I took a special interest in this story because I like Jayy Wick. My daughter, who listens to a lot of the hip-hop garbage that is our right now, told me to check him out. She showed me a video on YouTube. It was “Pork Chop Sammich” that got me on board. I thought he was actually pretty talented, and had some sick lyrics and flows. Then I watched some interviews with him, and I said to myself, “I can f*cks with this guy”. And on top of that, I like pork chop sammiches. So win/win.

It was also my daughter who broke the bad news to me. And she told me that Wick had been arrested after deputies say he shot an 18-year-old man before later performing at a Florida nightclub. But first, who is this white boy?
Jayy Wick is a rising country rapper who blends traditional country storytelling with a modern hip-hop flair. He grew up in a rural area, steeped in country music, but he found his voice fusing those roots with rap. His lyrics often touch on themes of small-town life, ambition, and resilience. Though he’s still building his presence, he’s been gaining attention through viral tracks and performances on both country and hip-hop stages.
Jayy Wick is originally from Port St. Lucie, Florida. His breakout really happened through social media. He started releasing tracks independently on platforms like SoundCloud and Instagram, and a few of his early songs started catching fire, especially in regional markets. A local DJ picked up one of his singles, and from there, he started getting booked for small shows and festivals. Eventually, a regional label took notice, and that helped him take the next step into the bigger scene.
Wick, born Donald Anderson, was arrested in Georgia on Tuesday, May 5th, and is facing an attempted murder charge. It was the Bay County Sheriff’s Office in Florida that made the announcement. The crown of Bay County is Panama City Beach.
BCSO said around 11pm, on April 25th in Panama City Beach, Florida, Anderson shot a man “multiple times” before he “fled the scene and continued his night as if nothing happened.”

Anderson/Wick, 26, hosted a party at the rental property he was staying at ahead of a performance at Panama City’s Vibez Night Club, according to the arrest affidavit. He left the scene and later performed at the club, according to a release from the Bay County Sheriff’s Office.
Witnesses on the scene identified the shooter as Anderson, according to BCSO. During the investigation, a security guard connected to Anderson told sheriff’s deputies that after hearing gunshots, he found and moved the victim from the beach area. So in a sense, he ratted on his boy.
The male victim, whom the sheriff did not identify, told authorities in the hospital that the shooting was unprompted and not the result of an “argument, physical altercation, or exchange of words.” He told police that “he did not know why Jay shot him and indicated he could not think of any prior conflict between them.”
The victim, who the sheriff said was having trouble speaking at times, told authorities that he was acting as security and watching the rapper in the boardwalk area.
Anderson had allegedly been “down at the beach” with a woman for 10 to 15 minutes. When Anderson returned to the boardwalk, the victim asked him, “You straight?” to which the rapper replied, “Yeah,” per the affidavit. The victim said Anderson then turned around and shot him, according to the affidavit.
The victim, who was carrying his own firearm, denied pulling it out or shooting it and alleged Anderson had consumed a large amount of alcohol, smoked marijuana, and may have been on pills that he could not prove or identify.
Since Anderson was caught in Georgia, he is set to be brought to the Bay County Jail in Florida. If convicted, he faces a possible 25 years in prison, possibly a life sentence, the sheriff’s office stated.
Arrest records show that Anderson was arrested on Tuesday night, and the Bay County sheriff noted that a firearm was on him and seized it at the time of his arrest. The United States Marshals Service, Atlanta police, and Panama City Beach police assisted with the arrest. WOW! That’s three different departments that had to be a part of this? You gotta love the chutzpah of the police.
“We will not tolerate this kind of violent behavior in Bay County. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you are. If you come to Bay County to commit these crimes, we will find you and hold you accountable,” Sheriff Tommy Ford wrote in the news release.
Wick rose to prominence recently with the release of his single “Pork Chop Sammich.” His brief music career has also included the tracks “All Flats,” “Patty Cake,” and “How You Doin’.”
