South Tampa Residents on High Alert After “Peeping Tom” Sightings
TAMPA — Residents in a South Tampa neighborhood remain on edge after a suspect was reportedly seen peering into a home on two consecutive nights over the weekend, according to the Tampa Police Department.
The incidents occurred on Saturday, March 29, and again on Sunday, March 30, with suspicious activity noted between midnight and 1 a.m. on both nights near South Lois Avenue and West San Miguel Street. Home surveillance footage captured the suspect’s disturbing behavior, prompting police to issue an alert to the local community.
“There’s been no violent crime related to these incidents,” said Eddy Durkin, a spokesperson for the Tampa Police Department. “We just want people to be aware. Please review your security footage, be mindful of any unusual activity, and call us if something doesn’t feel right.”
Authorities are actively developing leads and have requested that anyone who might have recorded relevant footage or noticed similar activity in the area come forward. Residents are being urged to check their home cameras and share any information that could help identify the suspect.
Local resident Sharon Davis expressed her concern, stating, “It’s very worrisome and frightening. I have solar lights, but my house isn’t fully lit, and it makes me nervous to even go out on my deck at night.”
Anyone with tips or additional information is encouraged to contact the Tampa Police at 813-231-6130, referencing report #25-182569.
As the investigation continues, officials stress the importance of community vigilance and prompt reporting of any suspicious behavior to ensure neighborhood safety.
