Venezuela Earthquake Toddler Rescued
A three year old boy has been rescued alive after spending six days trapped beneath the rubble of a collapsed apartment building following the devastating earthquakes that struck northern Venezuela. His rescue has become a powerful symbol of hope as emergency crews continue searching for survivors in one of the country’s deadliest natural disasters in recent years.
Extraordinary Rescue Operation
The child, identified by Venezuelan authorities as Klieber Morán, was found beneath the collapsed Los Corales Garden 1 residential building in La Guaira state. Rescue teams, including specialists from Jordan, used advanced search equipment to detect signs of life before carefully removing the toddler from the debris.
Following the rescue, the boy was taken to a hospital in Caracas for medical treatment. Officials said he was conscious and receiving care after surviving nearly a week beneath the collapsed structure.
A Rare Sign of Hope
Authorities said Klieber was the only person rescued alive on the sixth day of search operations. Venezuelan National Assembly President Jorge Rodríguez confirmed the successful rescue and praised the efforts of emergency responders who have worked around the clock since the earthquakes struck.
The discovery has renewed hope for families still waiting for news of missing loved ones, even as the likelihood of finding additional survivors decreases with each passing day.
Widespread Damage Across Northern Venezuela
The powerful earthquakes caused extensive destruction across northern Venezuela, damaging or destroying thousands of homes, apartment buildings, schools, and businesses. Entire neighborhoods were reduced to rubble, forcing thousands of residents from their homes.
Officials have reported a rising death toll along with thousands of injuries as emergency responders continue recovery efforts. Rescue crews are using search dogs, thermal imaging equipment, and heavy machinery to search collapsed structures throughout the affected areas.
Humanitarian Response Continues
Relief efforts remain underway as humanitarian organizations and government agencies provide food, clean water, medical supplies, and temporary shelter to displaced families. Emergency officials have warned that many communities continue to face significant challenges due to damaged infrastructure and disrupted access to essential services.
While the rescue of the young boy has offered a moment of optimism, authorities say the focus remains on supporting survivors, recovering victims, and helping affected communities begin the long process of rebuilding after the devastating earthquakes.
