UFC 327: Carlos Ulberg Stuns Jiří Procházka to Become New Light Heavyweight Champion in Miami

UFC 327 delivered a wild night of action at the Kaseya Center in Miami on Saturday, featuring a preliminary card packed with momentum swings and a main card that escalated into chaos, highlight-reel finishes, and ultimately a shocking new champion being crowned in the light heavyweight division.

The evening reached its peak in the main event, where Carlos Ulberg overcame adversity in dramatic fashion to defeat former champion Jiří Procházka by knockout at 3:45 of Round 1, capturing the UFC light heavyweight title in one of the most improbable championship performances in recent memory.

From the opening bell, Ulberg’s night looked in jeopardy. After injuring his knee inside the first minute, “Black Jag” appeared compromised and visibly limited in movement. Moments later, he seemed to worsen the injury, seemingly suffering damage to his right leg that raised immediate concern about whether he could continue.

Procházka, known for his aggressive forward pressure and unpredictable striking, immediately surged into attack mode, sensing a finish against a wounded opponent. But in classic UFC fashion, the tide turned instantly.

As Procházka stormed forward, Ulberg timed a crisp counter—catching him clean with a check left hook that dropped the former champion. Once Procházka hit the canvas, Ulberg followed with heavy ground-and-pound, forcing the referee to step in and end the bout.

In a matter of seconds, a fight that looked like it might end in Ulberg’s defeat instead ended with him standing as the new champion.

The victory marks a massive milestone for Ulberg, who now becomes the second Dana White’s Contender Series graduate to win UFC gold and the fourth overall from that pipeline to capture a title.

He extends his winning streak to 10 straight fights, with consecutive first-round stoppages, improving his professional record to 15-1. The win also solidifies him as one of the fastest-rising champions in the UFC’s light heavyweight history, especially given the adversity he overcame in the title fight itself.

Heavyweight war and breakout moments on the main card. While the main event delivered shock and drama, the rest of the UFC 327 main card also brought plenty of action.

Heavyweights Josh Hokit and Curtis Blaydes engaged in a brutal back-and-forth slugfest that had the Miami crowd on its feet. Both fighters exchanged heavy shots in close quarters, turning their bout into one of the most entertaining heavyweight battles of the year.

Elsewhere on the card, a former Bellator standout looking to rebound from a difficult UFC debut delivered a statement performance, proving that first impressions don’t always define a fighter’s future inside the Octagon. That bounce-back victory added another layer to a night already filled with redemption arcs and momentum shifts.

From early prelim finishes to late main card fireworks, UFC 327 lived up to its billing as a high-action event. But nothing matched the sheer improbability of the main event outcome.

Ulberg’s combination of resilience, timing, and power turned what looked like a compromised title challenge into a championship coronation. In Miami, against the odds and through injury, a new light heavyweight king was crowned in unforgettable fashion.
