Inter Miami Earns Road Point Against Chicago Fire in 1-1 MLS Draw

Inter Miami earned a point on the road Wednesday night, battling the Chicago Fire FC to a 1-1 draw in MLS regular-season action at a raucous Soldier Field.

A club-record crowd of 63,094 watched the Fire extend their unbeaten run to seven consecutive matches in league play. Chicago struck first through Robert Lewandowski, but Inter Miami responded shortly after halftime when midfielder Casemiro converted a perfectly delivered corner kick from Lionel Messi.

Lewandowski Gives Chicago Early Lead

The sold-out Soldier Field crowd helped energize Chicago from the opening whistle, and the hosts capitalized in the 10th minute.

Robin Lod played the ball back to left back Andrew Gutman, who created separation from his defender before sending a pinpoint cross toward the far side of the penalty area. Lewandowski arrived at the right moment and volleyed the delivery past Inter Miami goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair to give Chicago a 1-0 advantage.

Lewandowski’s goal continued his impressive run of form, as the veteran forward found the net for a third consecutive match. Inter Miami generated several opportunities before halftime, with Germán Berterame and Messi both testing Chicago goalkeeper Chris Brady. Brady stood tall, making six saves on the night to keep the Fire ahead heading into the break.

Casemiro Answers With Equalizer

Inter Miami came out of halftime determined to level the match, and the visitors found their breakthrough just three minutes after the restart. Messi delivered a dangerous corner kick into the box, where Casemiro rose above the defense and powered a header beyond the diving Brady to make it 1-1 in the 48th minute.

The goal marked Casemiro’s third of the MLS campaign and his third consecutive match with a goal, giving Inter Miami an important response after falling behind early. For Messi, the perfectly placed corner produced another significant statistical milestone. The assist was his 13th of the season, moving him into the top spot among MLS assist leaders.
