Police Search for Woman Using Fake $100 Bills at Coral Springs Businesses
Coral Springs, Fla. – Authorities in Broward County are actively searching for a woman who has been caught on camera using counterfeit $100 bills at multiple small businesses in Coral Springs.
On Wednesday, Local 10 News reported on the latest incident at 3 Natives Açaí and Juicery, where a woman entered the business and attempted to pay with a fake $100 bill, receiving approximately $90 in change before leaving. The owner, Babe Caruso, expressed frustration, saying, “Don’t be a jerk, we are a small business. It’s hard enough right now, we can’t lose that. Hug your mom, do better in life.”
Caruso filed a police report with the Coral Springs Police Department, who confirmed that they are investigating the individual. According to police, the same woman has been linked to similar incidents at Chicken Salad Chick, another Coral Springs establishment. The manager of Chicken Salad Chick revealed that two weeks ago, the woman also tried to pass off a counterfeit $100 bill, taking roughly $80-90 in change before being turned away by employees.
Coral Springs police have stated that they are actively working to identify and locate the suspect. They believe it is the same individual responsible for both incidents.
While using counterfeit currency is not the primary charge in these cases since the bills indicated they were fake, the woman could face charges of petty theft for her actions. Law enforcement urges anyone with information about the suspect to come forward and assist in the investigation.
