Brinks Truck Hit in Lightning Heist: $700K Snatched in Just 20 Seconds

Brinks Truck Robbed of $700K in Broad Daylight Outside Philadelphia Supermarket

CHELTENHAM TOWNSHIP, Pa. — In a heist that lasted less than the time it takes to tie a shoelace, two armed men made off with more than $700,000 from a Brinks armored truck in a daring daytime robbery outside a supermarket near Philadelphia.

Caught on Camera

Surveillance footage released by police shows the Brinks truck parked at the curb when the suspects moved in with precision and force. One man, armed with what police describe as an AR-15–style rifle, confronted the driver, ordering him to surrender his handgun. The second suspect grabbed two cash bags from the truck. The entire crime, from approach to getaway, unfolded in roughly 15 seconds.

Cheltenham Township Police Lt. Andrew Snyder called the robbery a brazen display of criminal confidence.

“It really is just the level of violence, the risk of violence to all the bystanders, it was very, very high,” Snyder said, noting that a shopper was seen walking into the store moments before the guns were drawn.

A Violent Summer Trend

The robbery is the latest in a troubling series of armored truck heists in Pennsylvania this summer. In June, armed assailants stole over $2 million from another Brinks truck outside a Home Depot in Montgomery County. Three suspects, including a former Brinks employee, have been arrested in that case. Investigators are now working to determine if the two incidents, both involving large sums of cash and high-powered firearms, are connected.

Company Stays Quiet as Investigation Widens

Brinks, one of the nation’s largest armored transport services, declined to comment on the robbery, referring all media inquiries to law enforcement. Police have not released the suspects’ identities but say both men are considered armed and dangerous. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Cheltenham Township Police immediately. As armored truck robberies become more frequent and more aggressive, law enforcement agencies across the state are warning drivers, businesses, and the public to remain vigilant.
