Second Half

In the second half, the momentum shifted back to the Chiefs with two scoring drives in the third quarter. The first being a 9 play, 47-yard drive ending with a 57-yard field goal by Butker, then after a 49ers turnover setup a 16-yard touchdown pass from Mahomes to Marquez Valdes-Scantling giving the Chiefs their first lea of the game at 13-10. As the fourth quarter unfolded, the tension reached its peak, with both teams locked in a fierce battle for supremacy. With 11:22 to go in the fourth quarter the 49ers went 12 plays, 75-yards finishing with a 10-yard touchdown pass from Purdy to Jennings. The Chiefs answered back with a Butker 24-yard field goal tying the game at 16-16. With four minutes to go the 49ers went 7 plays, 40-yards with 1:53 kicker Jake Moody made a 53-yard field goal giving them a 19-16 lead. With time winding down and the Chiefs trailing by a narrow margin, Mahomes orchestrated a masterful drive, dissecting the 49ers’ defense with surgical precision. Displaying his trademark poise and clutch gene, Mahomes connected with his receivers on critical plays, setting up kicker Harrison Butker making a 29-yard field goal with three seconds left in regulation tying the game at 19-19.
