Panthers Rally for Six Goals in Preseason Game One

The Florida Panthers defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 6-3 in NHL preseason action, overcoming an early deficit and scoring five of the final seven goals to pull away in a high-scoring matchup. Florida added the final goal of the game at 17:45 of the third period when Brady Tkachuk scored into an empty net for his second goal of the night. The goal completed a six-goal performance for the Panthers and sealed a 6-3 preseason victory over the Hurricanes. Florida received two-goal performances from Tkachuk and Reinhardt, while Barkov and Mikkola also found the net.

The Panthers also received a strong offensive contribution from their defensive group, with Mikkola finishing with a goal and two assists. The preseason victory gives Florida another opportunity to evaluate its roster and build chemistry ahead of the regular season.

Panthers Fall in Overtime Shootout in Preseason Game Two

The Florida Panthers dropped a 3-2 decision to the Carolina Hurricanes in an NHL preseason matchup Wednesday, with the Hurricanes earning the victory in a shootout after neither team could find the net during overtime. Florida built a 2-1 lead in the first period, but Carolina answered in the second before the game went scoreless through the third period and overtime. The Hurricanes then prevailed 2-0 in the shootout.

Tkachuk and Barkov Score in First Period

Florida regained the lead only 18 seconds later. Barkov scored his second goal of the preseason at 7:18, converting a play set up by Tkachuk and Seth Jones to put the Panthers ahead 2-1. The quick sequence gave Florida a one-goal advantage heading into the first intermission.

Hurricanes Rally to Tie Game

Carolina evened the game at 11:25 of the second period when Justin Robidas scored his second goal of the preseason. The goal was unassisted and brought the Hurricanes level at 2-2. Neither team was able to break the deadlock for the remainder of the second period. The third period also featured no goals, sending the preseason matchup to overtime tied at 2-2.

Carolina Wins in Shootout

Neither Florida nor Carolina found the back of the net during the overtime period, forcing the game into a shootout. Florida’s Mark Jankowski went first but was stopped by Akira Schmid. Sam Bennett was also denied by Cayden Primeau, while Carter Verhaeghe saw his wrist shot saved.Carolina’s Bradly Nadeau gave the Hurricanes the advantage by scoring on a backhand shot.

Felix Unger Sorum then converted another backhand attempt to give Carolina a 2-0 shootout lead. With Florida unable to answer, the Hurricanes secured the 3-2 preseason victory. The Panthers finished the game with two goals from Tkachuk and Barkov, while Nadeau scored twice for Carolina, including the deciding shootout goal.
