Kaylee Hottle Dies at 18
Kaylee Hottle, the Deaf actress best known for playing Jia in the Monsterverse films “Godzilla vs. Kong” and “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire,” has died at the age of 18 following a car crash in Maryland.
Authorities said the crash happened early Monday morning in Frederick County when the vehicle Hottle was riding in left the roadway and struck a culvert. Emergency responders transported her to a nearby trauma center, where she later died from her injuries. The driver suffered injuries that were not considered life threatening, while another passenger was not hospitalized. Investigators believe speed may have been a contributing factor, and the crash remains under investigation.
The Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner later determined that Hottle died from multiple blunt force injuries. Her death was ruled an accident.
A Breakout Star in the Monsterverse
Hottle made her feature film debut in 2021 as Jia, a young Deaf girl who develops a unique and emotional bond with Kong through American Sign Language. Her performance became one of the emotional centerpieces of “Godzilla vs. Kong,” earning praise from audiences for its authenticity and heartfelt storytelling.
