The Memphis Grizzlies cruised to a 125-91 victory over the struggling Miami Heat on Saturday night, leading from start to finish in a dominant performance. Jaren Jackson Jr. powered Memphis with 31 points on an efficient 13-of-18 shooting, while Desmond Bane delivered an all-around performance with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists.
Even without star guard Ja Morant, who sat out with a lingering sore right shoulder, the Grizzlies took control early. Jackson set the tone, scoring 23 points in the first half, helping Memphis build a commanding 63-48 halftime lead. The Grizzlies closed the half on a 21-9 run, showing no signs of fatigue after their Friday night loss to Cleveland.
Memphis’ dominance continued throughout the second half, with their lead reaching 18 points before swelling even further. By the fourth quarter, the Grizzlies were still shooting 55% from the field, leaving no doubt about the outcome.
In addition to Jackson and Bane, the Grizzlies received key contributions from Zach Edey and Brandon Clarke, who each added 12 points. The victory marked Memphis’ fifth win in their last six games, showing strong form as they continue their push toward the postseason.
For Miami, Kel’el Ware led the team with 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Bam Adebayo contributed 18 points. Kyle Anderson and Jaime Jaquez Jr. each had 13 points, but it wasn’t enough to snap the Heat’s losing streak, which now stands at seven games.
A particularly rough night for Miami came from Tyler Herro, who managed just eight points on 3-of-12 shooting, snapping his streak of 93 consecutive games scoring in double figures. Despite their struggles, Miami remains in play-in contention, sitting in ninth place in the Eastern Conference, trailing Orlando but ahead of Chicago.
The highlight of the night for Grizzlies fans came during a first-quarter timeout when former Memphis forward Tony Allen was shown in a suite. Allen, a fan favorite and defensive stalwart during Memphis’ “Grit and Grind” era, had his No. 9 jersey retired in a postgame ceremony, adding an emotional touch to an already successful night for the franchise.
The Heat will look to break their losing streak when they travel to New York to face the Knicks on Monday night. Meanwhile, Memphis begins a five-game road trip in Sacramento, aiming to build on their strong recent play.
