New York overcomes a 19-point deficit behind Brunson’s 31-point performance. The New York Knicks pulled off a dramatic comeback Sunday night, erasing a 19-point deficit to defeat the Miami Heat 116-112 in overtime. Jalen Brunson led the way with 31 points, including a clutch 3-pointer in overtime that put the Knicks ahead for good.
OG Anunoby added 23 points, while Karl-Anthony Towns delivered a dominant performance with 19 points and 16 rebounds. With the victory, New York extended its winning streak to three games.
Brunson’s decisive 3-pointer with 2:27 left in overtime gave the Knicks a 111-110 lead, sparking a crucial 7-0 run. Miami managed to cut the deficit to 114-112 on an Alec Burks 3-pointer with 27 seconds remaining, but Anunoby responded with a game-sealing dunk with 17 seconds left.
For the Heat, Bam Adebayo led all scorers with 30 points, while Tyler Herro contributed 22. Rookie Kel’el Ware made an impact with 12 points and a career-high six blocks.
New York trailed by 17 points at halftime and fell behind by the same margin midway through the third quarter. The Knicks finished the third on a 17-5 run and erased an 11-point deficit in the fourth.
Miles McBride’s jumper with 2:58 left in regulation gave New York its first lead at 101-100. Down four with a minute to go, the Knicks forced overtime behind Anunoby’s tip-in and Brunson’s clutch jumper.
Andrew Wiggins missed his second straight game with a sprained right ankle. Jaime Jaquez Jr., who started in Wiggins absence Friday, also sat out with an ankle injury.
The Knicks were outscored by 20 in the paint at halftime but flipped the script to win the battle inside 58-56. The Knicks will host the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night. The Heat will look to bounce back when they host the Washington Wizards on Monday.
