At Inter&Co Stadium on Saturday night, Orlando City SC and Atlanta United FC played out a hard-fought 1-1 draw in MLS regular-season action, a result defined by a bright start from the Lions and a late response from the visitors.
Orlando City came out aggressively as they pushed for a second home win in a week, immediately putting Atlanta under pressure. The breakthrough arrived in the 18th minute after a fluid attacking sequence down the left flank.
Midfielder Martín Ojeda slipped a well-weighted pass into the path of Iván Angulo, who timed his run perfectly toward the end line. Angulo then delivered a sharp ball across the face of goal, where Griffin Dorsey arrived to finish past Atlanta goalkeeper Lucas Hoyos.
The goal marked Dorsey’s third across all competitions this season and extended his run of form to back-to-back matches on the scoresheet, giving Orlando a deserved 1-0 advantage.
Orlando controls much of the second half before late drama. The Lions maintained their structure and discipline after the break, keeping Atlanta at bay for long stretches. For much of the second half, Orlando protected their narrow lead, with Atlanta struggling to create clear chances through the hour mark.
However, the match shifted in the closing stages as Atlanta began to find more space in the final third. Their persistence paid off in the 86th minute when Jay Fortune found the equalizer, finishing a move involving Matthew Edwards and Stian Gregersen to level the match at 1-1.
The late strike ensured both sides left with a point after a tightly contested second half.
Despite leading for much of the match, Orlando City were forced to settle for a draw as Atlanta United salvaged a late equalizer. The result keeps both teams competitive in the Eastern Conference standings within Major League Soccer.
The Lions now turn their attention quickly to a rematch, as the two sides meet again on Tuesday, May 19, in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Kickoff at Inter&Co Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m. ET,
