Convicted Felon Charged in Brutal Killing of Woman on I-95 Ramp
Miami-Dade County, FL – A convicted felon has been charged with second-degree murder in the violent killing of a woman on a Miami-Dade highway ramp, a crime witnessed in real time by state transportation workers monitoring live traffic cameras.
Authorities have identified the suspect as 29-year-old Lorent Pion, who is accused of brutally assaulting and dragging 22-year-old Nahomi Cittadini onto the path of oncoming traffic during an altercation on December 7. Pion was initially arrested on unrelated charges but has now been formally charged with Cittadini’s murder.
Murder Caught on Traffic Cameras
According to an arrest warrant authored by Miami-Dade Police Detective Malia Carson, the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) was alerted to the crime after Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) workers saw the attack unfold via traffic surveillance cameras.
The workers reported that a black SUV was stranded in a ditch near the southbound entrance ramp from Ives Dairy Road onto I-95. As they monitored the scene, they witnessed a man, later identified as Pion, viciously beating a woman who was on the ground, trying to fend off the attack.
Authorities say the surveillance footage shows Pion dragging Cittadini away from the vehicle and toward the highway, where multiple cars swerved to avoid them. At one point, Pion appeared to walk away, leaving her on the shoulder, but as she crawled back, he reportedly pulled her into the far-right travel lane, directly into the path of oncoming traffic.
One FDOT worker described how Pion continued punching Cittadini until he suddenly “jumped back” as she was struck by a passing sedan. The driver of that vehicle stopped several hundred yards away.
Failed Attempt to Move the Body
Following the impact, investigators say Pion dragged Cittadini’s body across the grassy median, seemingly attempting to load her into his SUV. Surveillance footage captured Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews arriving at the scene but driving away without intervening. Shortly thereafter, Pion fled in his vehicle.
Later that morning, one of the FDOT workers noticed a trail of blood and Cittadini’s lifeless body still lying at the scene. Authorities were notified, and a medical examiner later ruled her death resulted from blunt force trauma caused by the vehicle strike.
Suspect Was on House Arrest, Had Prior Domestic Violence Charge
Investigators linked Pion to the crime through multiple sources. A witness informed detectives that Cittadini was last seen alive with Pion as they left the Cheetah Gentlemen’s Club in Hallandale Beach. The same witness later reported that Pion showed up at his home covered in blood and confronted him. Shortly afterward, Pion called the witness, claiming he had crashed his vehicle into a median.
Records show that Pion had been arrested on August 8 for battering Cittadini in Miami Beach, leading to a court order requiring him to stay away from her. At the time of the murder, he was on house arrest and wearing an ankle monitor, which helped law enforcement locate him at a Miramar apartment complex.
When authorities attempted to stop Pion in his black BMW SUV, he led police on a chase from Miami-Dade into Broward County, ultimately crashing into multiple vehicles before fleeing on foot. He was captured and taken into custody.
Pion, who has a criminal history, has denied the charges, writing to a judge, “I am innocent. I didn’t kill my girl. It was a car accident. And the car that hit her ran away.”
He is now facing a second-degree murder charge and remains in custody as the investigation continues.
