Miami Heat Defeat San Antonio Spurs 128-107 Behind Kel’el Ware’s Stellar Performance

The Miami Heat snapped a three-game losing streak in emphatic fashion Sunday night, cruising to a 128-107 victory over the San Antonio Spurs at Kaseya Center. Rookie standout Kel’el Ware led the charge with 25 points, matching his season high, while Duncan Robinson added 21 points, shooting an impressive 5-of-7 from beyond the arc.

Jimmy Butler, in his second game back after serving a seven-game suspension for “conduct detrimental to the team,” had a quieter night with eight points and seven assists. However, Butler’s leadership and ball distribution helped power Miami’s balanced offensive attack.

The Heat closed the first half on an 11-0 run to turn a six-point deficit into a 46-41 halftime lead. That momentum carried into the second half as Miami opened the third quarter with a dominant 25-8 run. Nikola Jovic capped the stretch with a three-pointer at the 5:45 mark of the third quarter, giving the Heat a commanding 71-52 lead they would not relinquish.

Tyler Herro was instrumental in the second half, scoring 16 of his 18 points after the break. Jovic contributed 14 points off the bench, while Terry Rozier added 20. Miami’s ball movement and perimeter shooting were pivotal, as the team bounced back from a cold start to hit 18-of-33 three-pointers, including a stretch of 10 makes in 11 attempts.

San Antonio guard Devin Vassell scored 23 points, and rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama added 21, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Spurs from dropping their third consecutive game. The Spurs fell to 19-22 on the season, reaching the halfway mark of their campaign in need of some consistency.

The Heat ended their three-game home losing streak and have now won 10 of their last 14 games at Kaseya Center. The team’s ability to bounce back after missing their first eight three-point attempts showed their resilience and adaptability.

The Spurs’ struggles continue as they prepare for a two-game trip to Paris. Despite solid individual performances from Vassell and Wembanyama, the team’s defense couldn’t contain Miami’s offensive explosion in the second half.

Consecutive three-pointers from Duncan Robinson and Terry Rozier late in the second quarter sparked the Heat’s 11-0 run to close the half. That momentum carried into the third quarter, where Miami’s 25-8 run put the game firmly out of reach.

The Heat missed their first eight three-point attempts but recovered in spectacular fashion, connecting on 10 of their next 11 and finishing the game 18-of-33 from beyond the arc.

The San Antonio Spurs head to Paris for two games against the Indiana Pacers on Thursday and Saturday, while the Miami Heat will look to keep their momentum going as they host the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday night.

With Kel’el Ware continuing to impress and the Heat regaining their form at home, Miami looks poised to build on Sunday’s win as they move deeper into the season.
