Minnesota Swiftie Halloween Decor
Minnesota homeowner has turned her Halloween display into a pop culture phenomenon. Miranda Soukup, a creative director from Minneapolis, transformed her front yard into a sparkling and spooky tribute to Taylor Swift, earning viral attention across social media. Her elaborate creation, called “The Life of a Showghoul,” is inspired by Swift’s latest album The Life of a Showgirl and features skeletons, glitter, and a full dose of Swiftie fandom.
A Ghostly Tribute to the Pop Icon
Soukup told ABC News that her idea came to life almost immediately after Swift announced her album in August. “I was like, ‘This is perfect.’ It lends itself to Showghoul so easily,” she said. The centerpiece of her display is a skeleton dressed as Taylor Swift, complete with a showgirl costume, blonde wig, and sparkly microphone. Nearby, skeleton versions of NFL stars Travis and Jason Kelce sit at a “New Frights” table, a clever twist on the Kelce brothers’ real-life “New Heights” podcast. The display even includes a “graveyard” with headstones referencing some of Swift’s most famous feuds, including Scooter Braun and Kanye West.
Behind the Viral Display
Soukup said she began designing and building the display with her sister Ali and friend Michael months in advance. “My sister and I basically prepped all of the decor and set it all up on October 1 and 2. I really wanted it ready for the album release,” she explained. Many of the materials came from her local Buy Nothing group, where she sourced everything from headphones for the Kelce skeletons to pool noodles used as oversized friendship bracelets. She also repurposed old show costumes, creating an intricate and sustainable setup that blends fan art with creativity.
The Swiftie Pilgrimage
Since unveiling her display, Soukup’s yard has turned into a gathering spot for Taylor Swift fans. “I have an endless flow of Swifties coming to take photos, many in official merch or sparkly outfits. It brings me so much joy,” she told People. Located at the corner of 28th Avenue South and East 46th Street in Minneapolis, the scene has attracted both locals and travelers eager to see the display in person. Visitors can even take part in themed activities, like friendship bracelet swaps and a photo booth planned for Halloween night.
The Power of Fandom
Soukup’s creation shows how fan culture has evolved into real-world experiences that blend community, art, and pop culture. Her display has been featured by major outlets including People, Axios, and ABC News, proving the viral power of creative, themed home installations. Beyond the spectacle, it reflects how fandoms like the Swifties use art and humor to celebrate their favorite artist in ways that engage both local communities and global audiences online.
A Lesson for Local Creators
While Soukup’s Halloween masterpiece is based in Minneapolis, her approach offers inspiration far beyond Minnesota. In places like South Florida, where outdoor displays are a staple of the season, homeowners and local artists could replicate similar viral magic by combining cultural references, interactive elements, and authentic fan passion. The key takeaway: community creativity, when done with heart and humor, resonates far beyond a single front yard.
A Sparkly Halloween Success
What began as one fan’s creative idea has become one of the most talked-about Halloween displays of the year. Miranda Soukup’s “The Life of a Showghoul” celebrates Taylor Swift’s music, humor, and spirit, while uniting fans under the glow of twinkling lights and shared appreciation. It’s a reminder that sometimes, the best kind of Halloween magic is made by fans who know how to turn admiration into art.
