Puff Daddy Arrested on Charges of Racketeering, Conspiracy, and Sex Trafficking

Sean “Diddy” Combs Jailed on Federal Sex Trafficking Charges

Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs was sent to jail on Tuesday to await trial in a federal sex trafficking case. The indictment accuses him of orchestrating a network of sexual crimes involving both female victims and male sex workers, dating back to 2008. The charges include racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and other violent acts.

Combs, 54, appeared in court where he pleaded “not guilty” to all charges. U.S. Magistrate Judge Robyn Tarnofsky denied him bail, resulting in Combs being taken into custody immediately. His lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, announced plans to appeal the bail decision, asserting Combs’ innocence.

The indictment paints a disturbing picture of Combs’ alleged activities, detailing incidents where he coerced victims into “Freak Offs”—days-long, drug-fueled sexual performances. These events were reportedly facilitated by Combs’ staff, who arranged travel and hotel accommodations and supplied substances such as drugs and baby oil. The indictment also alludes to an attack on his former girlfriend, R&B singer Cassie, captured on video.

Prosecutors claim Combs used his “power and prestige” to manipulate women into participating in these events, often under the guise of romantic relationships. They argue that Combs used threats, violence, and control over the victims’ careers and personal lives to maintain their silence and compliance. The investigation, which included interviews with over 50 victims and witnesses, promises to use financial, travel, and electronic records, along with video evidence, to prove the case.

Agnifilo acknowledged that Combs had a history of drug use and toxic relationships but argued that these were consensual adult relationships. He contended that the so-called “Freak Offs” were extensions of a long-term relationship and not instances of sex trafficking. He criticized the prosecution for infringing on Combs’ private life.

Combs’ arrest came six months after federal authorities raided his homes in Los Angeles and Miami, seizing narcotics, firearms, and over 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant. The indictment also alleges that Combs engaged in kidnapping, arson, and witness intimidation. It states that Combs employed various tactics, including physical violence, to exert control over victims and prevent them from speaking out.

If convicted on all charges, Combs faces a minimum of 15 years in prison, with the potential for a life sentence. The indictment describes Combs as the leader of a criminal enterprise that engaged in sex trafficking, forced labor, drug offenses, and other crimes. Combs is accused of recording the “Freak Offs” to use as “collateral,” further ensuring his victims’ silence.

Combs, known as a prominent figure in the hip-hop industry and founder of Bad Boy Records, has faced a series of allegations over the past year. In November, Cassie, whose legal name is Casandra Ventura, filed a lawsuit accusing Combs of physical and sexual abuse during their decade-long relationship. The lawsuit was settled in one day, but subsequent security footage surfaced showing Combs assaulting Ventura. Following the video’s release, Combs issued a public apology.

Combs and his legal team have denied the allegations, maintaining his innocence. His arrest marks a significant moment in the ongoing investigation into allegations of abuse and criminal conduct that have cast a shadow over his career and public persona.
