Rescued Miami Dog Finds New Loving Home

A severely malnourished dog rescued from a Downtown Miami high rise balcony is recovering after a disturbing video brought attention to the animal’s condition. The woman who first raised the alarm has now been approved to adopt the dog.

The dog was found at the ParkLine Condominiums after neighbors became concerned about videos showing the animal alone on a balcony surrounded by waste. The dog was visibly emaciated, with its ribs, spine and other bones prominent through its loose skin. An animal welfare officer determined that the dog was severely malnourished and dehydrated and needed immediate medical care.

Viral Video Leads To Rescue

A nearby resident recorded video of the dog and called for help after seeing its condition. The footage spread across social media, prompting community members to contact authorities and call attention to the situation.

The woman who initially reported the dog, along with another resident who helped bring attention to the case, worked to make sure the animal received help. Miami police and animal services eventually responded to the apartment and removed the dog, which was taken for veterinary treatment.

Authorities later arrested the dog’s owner and charged him with felony animal cruelty. Investigators alleged that the dog had been left on the balcony for an extended period, where feces and urine had accumulated.
