The San Antonio Spurs continued their late-season surge in emphatic fashion Monday night, rolling to a 136–111 victory over the Miami Heat behind another dominant performance from Victor Wembanyama and a deep, balanced supporting cast.
Wembanyama finished with 26 points, 15 rebounds and five blocked shots as San Antonio extended its winning streak to six games and clinched the Southwest Division title. The Spurs’ victory, coupled with Houston’s loss to Chicago earlier in the evening, officially secured the crown for a team that has surged into elite form down the stretch.
San Antonio (54–18) has been nearly unstoppable since the start of February, compiling an NBA-best 22–2 record over that span. The Spurs showed that dominance early against Miami, pouring in 76 first-half points and building a lead that eventually swelled to 30 — the largest margin any visiting team has held in Miami this season.
Wembanyama set the tone on both ends of the floor, shooting 11-for-22 from the field and anchoring the defense with five blocks. It marked the fourth time this season he has recorded at least 26 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks in a game — a statistical combination unmatched across the rest of the league except for a single performance by Zach Edey back in November.
San Antonio’s bench provided a major spark as well. Keldon Johnson and Dylan Harper each scored 21 points in reserve roles, while rookie standout Stephon Castle added 19 points to help keep the pressure on throughout the night.
Despite the victory, the Spurs remain in pursuit of the Western Conference’s top overall seed. They sit three games behind the Oklahoma City Thunder (57–15), who extended their own winning streak to 12 with a win over Philadelphia on Monday.
Miami, meanwhile, continued to slide at a critical point in the season. Norman Powell led the Heat with 21 points off the bench, while Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro each scored 18. The Heat have now dropped five straight games and remain stuck in the crowded Eastern Conference play-in race.
Entering the night’s results, seventh-place Philadelphia (39–33) held a one-game edge over Miami (38–34), with Orlando just ahead of the Heat and Charlotte closing fast only a half-game back. The Heat allowed 76 points in the first half and rested their starters in the fourth quarter as the deficit proved too large to overcome.
The Spurs now turn their attention to a Wednesday road matchup in Memphis, while the Heat will try to halt their skid when they visit Cleveland the same night.
