Wrigley Field Fan Works Remotely During Game

One Chicago Cubs fan turned Wrigley Field into his office this week, going viral after cameras caught him working on his laptop during the team’s 4-1 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers. During the bottom of the seventh inning on Tuesday, August 19, the broadcast zoomed in on a fan in the bleachers, fully focused on his screen with a wireless mouse resting on the empty seat beside him. Cubs announcer Jon Sciambi immediately cracked a joke, asking, “How badly did you want it? Did you bring your mouse? You better bring your mouse!” He later added, “There’s only one question: Is this guy doing work? Or going over a fantasy football draft?” Fellow broadcaster Jim Deshaies chimed in, noting, “You know, he could be working. This is the make-up game, right?”

The fan’s dedication or stubbornness sparked laughter in the booth and online, with the clip quickly spreading across social media. At one point, a friend sitting next to him showed him the broadcast, leading both to laugh, but the laptop never closed. The camera cut back as the man continued typing, unfazed by the attention, which earned him the tongue-in-cheek title of “Fan of the Game.”

The moment resonated with viewers far beyond baseball, serving as a snapshot of modern work culture where remote jobs and the “always-on” mentality have blurred the lines between leisure and labor. As one social media commenter quipped, “If the work gets done, who cares where you did it at?” For this fan, that office just happened to be inside Wrigley Field, proving that in 2025, all you really need to clock in is Wi-Fi and determination—even in the middle of a Cubs game.
