On Saturday night, April 11, 2026, a mass shooting occurred at a Chick-fil-A on Route 22 in Union Township, New Jersey, resulting in at least one death and six injuries.
According to eyewitness reports and family members, a group of masked suspects that were described by witnesses as a “group of men” entered the restaurant around 8:45 p.m. and went directly behind the food counter to open fire. While the exact number of individuals involved has not been finalized by officials, reports consistently mention “several” or a “group” of armed suspects.

The motive of the crime remains under active investigation by the Union County Prosecutor’s Office; however, authorities have stated the incident “does not appear to be a random act of violence,” suggesting the attack was targeted.
One worker’s father called the scene a “warzone.”
When the group of masked men reportedly bypassed customers and went directly behind the food counter, it suggests that they may have been looking for a particular person rather than shooting indiscriminately. Family members of some employees have stated that “some sort of altercation” may have occurred just before the gunfire erupted.
