Adam Levine’s New Album
Adam Levine is best known as the charismatic frontman of pop-rock band Maroon 5. Born on March 18, 1979, in Los Angeles, California, Levine co-founded the band in the early 2000s with high school friends. Originally called Kara’s Flowers, the group rebranded as Maroon 5 and exploded onto the music scene with their 2002 breakout album Songs About Jane, which featured chart-toppers like “This Love” and “She Will Be Loved.” Beyond music, Levine has made a name for himself as a judge on The Voice, as well as a business mogul with ventures in fashion and fragrances. He’s also known for his marriage to model Behati Prinsloo and for his often candid interviews, never shying away from industry criticisms or personal reflections. Over the past two decades, Levine has helped Maroon 5 maintain commercial relevance with a consistent stream of radio hits, cross-genre collaborations, and arena tours, while also evolving as one of pop music’s most recognizable voices.
A New Era: Love Is Like
In an exclusive interview with TODAY on July 29, Levine sat down with longtime bandmate and guitarist James Valentine to discuss Love Is Like, their newly released eighth studio album. “It’s one of our best, I think,” Levine said on air. “We kind of took our time. We didn’t rush anything. And I think the result is something that feels very complete and very much like a reflection of where we are now.” Valentine echoed that sentiment, saying, “After 20 years of working together, we still find new ways to surprise each other creatively. This record really challenged us, and we’re proud of what came out of that.” The band teased a return to more emotionally resonant songwriting while still embracing their trademark pop sensibility. The album’s title track, “Love Is Like,” reportedly explores vulnerability and emotional complexity, while the production leans into a blend of contemporary pop, funk, and R&B influences.
Star-Studded Collaborations: Lil Wayne, Blackpink & More
Levine also revealed that the album features “a nice mix of people”—referring to an eclectic list of collaborators that includes rap icon Lil Wayne and global K-pop sensations Blackpink. “We love Lil Wayne. He brings a totally unique energy to the track. It’s cool to have someone like him come in and take it to a different place,” Levine told TODAY. On working with Blackpink, Levine added: “They’re just massive stars, but also very grounded and creatively sharp. That song came together so organically—it just worked.” The band hasn’t yet revealed the full tracklist or all featured artists, but Levine teased that more surprises are coming. “There are a couple more features we’re keeping under wraps for now, but they’re definitely unexpected,” he said.
Two Decades In, Still Going Strong
Despite the ever-changing landscape of pop music, Levine and Valentine say their bond is stronger than ever—and that’s what gives Maroon 5 its staying power. “We’ve seen a lot of bands break apart or fade out, and I think the secret is mutual respect and giving each other space to evolve,” Valentine said. Levine chimed in: “We’re like brothers. We’ve been through a lot—personally and professionally—but we still love doing this. That’s rare.”
What’s Next for Maroon 5?
The band is gearing up for a global tour later this year to support Love Is Like. While dates have not been formally announced, Levine hinted they’re planning something “big” for both North America and overseas markets. Fans can also expect a wave of visual content—music videos, live sessions, and possibly a docuseries chronicling the making of the album. “This project is more than just music—it’s a moment,” Levine concluded. “And I think people are going to feel that.”
