If you have ever been to a strip club aka gentleman’s club aka “titty bar”, one thing you will never be able to order to drink is coffee. You can get a beer. You can order a shot. You can even have the bartender throw you together a Long Island Iced Tea. But, in California, if you are craving a latte or a macchiato AND you want a lapdance or to “make it rain,” there is a place. Oh boy, there is a place! Pay attention, because this is where things get steamy.

In Garden Grove, California, in a dingy shopping center, sits DD Café. The fact that it is even called a café is comical in itself. But DD Café is not a coffee shop; it is basically a straight-up strip club. Local news in California decided to check things out there.
FOX 11 went undercover and captured female “servers” providing lap dances, offering private dances for cash, and telling customers they could bring alcohol inside the establishment for a fee. And they were busy. There was no doubt that the word was out, and guys were showing up for the fun.
City records show DD Café, located at 10552 McFadden Avenue, is licensed only as a coffee shop. For local residents, this place is not a secret. Everybody in the area knew about this place, and they were not happy about it. One Garden Grove resident says he raised concerns about the business multiple times over the past year, contacting the city, a nearby high school, and the school district.
One of the big “no-no’s” is that the business is located within walking distance (under a mile) to La Quinta High School. Under the Garden Grove Municipal Code, adult entertainment businesses are prohibited within 1,000 feet of a school facility.

When FOX 11 visited DD Café to ask the owner about the type of business being operated. A woman inside told them that the location was “only a coffee shop,” then asked them to leave. The actual owner was not available for comment.
Then FOX 11 reached out to the City of Garden Grove, emailing officials twice within two days requesting comment. No response was received. Later that same day, the Garden Grove Police Department announced on their social media that 17 people were arrested at DD Café.
The business was also red-tagged, effectively ordering it closed. A red tag can be issued for a variety of reasons, including safety or code-related concerns. The police have not given details about what the 17 individuals were arrested for, and it remains unclear what charges, if any, may be filed.
Residents in the area told FOX 11 that they were not surprised by any of this. They say similar businesses are an open secret in the city and that more enforcement is needed, and that DD Café is not just the only one “pulling this off”. Get it?
One thing is for sure. This story reminds me of the joke in the movie Airplane, “I like my coffee like I like my women…BLACK!”

wish you all the best
