FBI Hunts Suspects in Offset Shooting Outside Seminole Hard Rock as Investigation Intensifies in South Florida
Federal authorities are escalating their search for multiple suspects involved in the shooting of rapper Offset outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino a high-profile act of violence that unfolded in one of South Florida’s most visible entertainment corridors. The April 6 attack, now under active federal investigation, is being treated as a targeted assault with attempted robbery elements. And as of April 14, the FBI is asking the public to help identify and locate those responsible.
A Coordinated Attack in Plain Sight
According to Federal Bureau of Investigation officials in Miami, the shooting occurred around 7:24 p.m. outside the casino complex, where a large group confronted a single victim, later identified as Offset, whose legal name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus.
During the altercation, one of the individuals pulled a handgun and fired a single shot, striking the rapper. Investigators say the group then attempted to steal a watch from him but failed before fleeing the scene.
“This was not random. It was a coordinated confrontation that turned violent in seconds.”
Offset was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been reported to be recovering and mobile.
Getaway Vehicles Identified
Authorities have released key details that could break the case open.
The suspects fled in two Chevrolet SUVs:
– A matte gray Chevrolet Tahoe
– A black Chevrolet Suburban
Investigators believe the Suburban headed north toward Hollywood, while the Tahoe traveled southbound toward Miami, suggesting a coordinated escape plan designed to split law enforcement attention. The FBI has released images of both vehicles and individuals believed to be involved, urging anyone with information to come forward.
Federal Jurisdiction Raises Stakes
This case carries additional weight because of where it happened. The Seminole Hard Rock property sits on land operated by the Seminole Tribe of Florida, meaning crimes committed there fall under federal jurisdiction. That has brought in the FBI’s South Florida Violent Crime and Fugitive Task Force, working alongside Seminole Police and local agencies. The involvement of federal investigators signals the seriousness of the case and increases the likelihood of aggressive pursuit once suspects are identified.
Lil Tjay Detained, But Not Charged in Shooting
In the immediate aftermath of the incident, Lil Tjay was detained by Seminole Police nearby. Authorities later clarified he was not connected to the shooting itself. He was instead charged with unrelated offenses, including disorderly conduct and driving without a valid license. No suspects have been formally charged in connection with the shooting as of this writing.
A High Profile Crime in a High Visibility Location
The shooting has sent shockwaves through South Florida’s entertainment and nightlife scene. The Hard Rock complex is not just a casino, it’s a centerpiece destination that draws tourists, celebrities, and major events year-round. A violent incident involving a nationally recognized artist in that setting raises serious questions about security, targeting, and organized criminal behavior in high traffic luxury environments.
For federal investigators, the focus now is clear: identify the group, track the vehicles, and determine whether this was an opportunistic robbery or something more deliberate.
The Search for Answers
The FBI is urging anyone with information to contact authorities at 1-800-225-5324 or submit tips online. For now, the suspects remain at large. But with federal resources engaged and surveillance imagery released, the window for anonymity is closing. In South Florida, where image and access often collide, this case is a reminder of something more fundamental: Even in the most public places, violence can move fast. And when it does, the fallout is immediate and national.
