Florida Atlantic Dominates Wagner 41-10 Behind CJ Campbell Jr.’s Two Touchdowns

Florida Atlantic University (FAU) bounced back in a big way on Saturday night, defeating the Wagner Seahawks 41-10. The Owls broke open a close game in the second half, thanks to a dominant rushing attack led by running back CJ Campbell Jr., who rushed for 145 yards on just 15 carries and added two touchdowns.

FAU (2-3) started strong, racing out to a 17-0 lead, fueled by Campbell’s explosive runs and a steady ground game. Campbell’s counterpart, Zuberi Mobley, contributed to the early surge, rushing for 77 yards on 11 carries, including a touchdown that helped the Owls take command. But Wagner (2-3), an FCS team, battled back. Seahawks quarterback Jake Cady connected with Chase Stafford for a 6-yard touchdown pass late in the first half, cutting the Owls’ lead to 17-10 going into the break.

In the second half, FAU’s rushing attack took over. The Owls imposed their will with three rushing touchdowns, effectively sealing the game. Campbell was the centerpiece of the offense, showcasing his speed and elusiveness with big gains that Wagner’s defense had no answer for.

Omari Hayes also had a standout performance for the Owls, hauling in six catches for 137 yards. Though FAU didn’t find the end zone through the air, their aerial attack, led by quarterbacks Cam Fancher and Kasen Weisman, kept the Seahawks’ defense honest. Fancher and Weisman split time at quarterback, combining for 16-of-24 passing for 248 yards, but both threw interceptions.

Defensively, FAU tightened up after halftime, holding Wagner scoreless in the second half. The Seahawks struggled to move the ball consistently as FAU’s defense forced key stops and allowed the offense to control the tempo.

FAU’s win lifts them to 2-3 on the season, while Wagner drops to the same mark at 2-3. The Owls will look to build on this momentum as they head into the heart of their conference schedule, while Wagner returns to FCS competition seeking to rebound from this loss.
