Inter Miami CF continued its strong start to the MLS regular season Saturday night, rallying from an early deficit and later surrendering a late equalizer in a hard-fought 2–2 draw against the New York Red Bulls at Nu Stadium. The result extended Miami’s unbeaten run to six matches, though the club is still searching for its first victory at its new home venue.
Goals from Mateo Silvetti and Germán Berterame highlighted another resilient performance from the Herons, who twice responded to pressure from a youthful and energetic Red Bulls side.
New York opened the scoring in the 15th minute through Jorge Ruvalcaba, finishing a move sparked by an impressive solo surge from homegrown midfielder Julian Hall. The visitors’ early advantage forced Miami onto the front foot for the remainder of the first half.
Inter Miami responded with urgency, creating multiple chances and placing four shots on target before halftime. Their persistence paid off deep into stoppage time.
The equalizer came in the second minute of first-half stoppage time, the product of a fluid attacking sequence. Midfielder Bright initiated the move through the middle before finding Rodrigo De Paul on the right flank. De Paul delivered a precise cross to the back post, where Silvetti finished first-time with his right foot to make it 1–1.
The strike marked Silvetti’s second goal of the MLS season, while De Paul recorded his first league assist of the campaign.
Inter Miami carried that momentum into the second half and nearly took the lead immediately when Lionel Messi threatened from inside the box in the 49th minute.
The breakthrough came shortly afterward in the 55th minute, when winter signing Germán Berterame found the net from the center of the area following a key ball recovery by Homegrown attacker Daniel Pinter high in the Red Bulls’ half. The finish gave Miami a 2–1 lead and marked Berterame’s first goal in Inter Miami colors.
Despite Miami’s control for stretches of the second half, the Red Bulls’ youthful lineup continued to threaten. Hall again proved instrumental late in the match, creating the tying goal with another dynamic run before slipping a pass across the box.
Seventeen-year-old Adri Mehmeti capitalized, bundling the ball home for his first career MLS goal to level the score at 2–2 and secure a valuable road point for New York.
Hall finished the night with two assists, playing a central role in both Red Bulls goals and emerging as one of the match’s standout performers.
While Inter Miami showed resilience in extending its unbeaten streak, the club remains in search of its first victory at Nu Stadium despite another energetic attacking display and strong stretches of possession.
The Herons demonstrated their depth and attacking promise once again, with contributions from both established stars and emerging young players continuing to shape their early-season identity.
Inter Miami now turns its attention to a road matchup against the Colorado Rapids at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver on Saturday, April 18 at 4:30 p.m. ET, where the club will look to keep its unbeaten run alive and continue building momentum in MLS play.
