MSC New Cruise Launch
In a glittering ceremony filled with fanfare, music, and maritime tradition, MSC Cruises officially launched its newest and most ambitious ship to date — the MSC World America. The event, held at PortMiami, was attended by cruise executives, dignitaries, travel partners, and media from around the globe. It signaled not only the debut of a groundbreaking cruise ship but also MSC’s growing commitment to the North American cruise market.
The MSC World America, the second ship in MSC’s World Class series, is a floating metropolis that redefines the concept of modern cruising. Designed with North American guests in mind but infused with MSC’s signature European elegance, the ship is a marvel of both design and sustainability.
A Grand Ceremony in PortMiami
The launch ceremony of MSC World America was as grand as the ship itself. Held at MSC Cruises’ state-of-the-art cruise terminal — one of the largest in North America — the christening event included a traditional blessing, live entertainment, and appearances by high-profile figures. The ship’s godmother, a role steeped in maritime tradition, broke the ceremonial champagne bottle across the hull, officially naming and blessing the vessel for safe travels.
The event also showcased the ship’s advanced facilities and offered an exclusive first-look tour for media and VIPs, creating buzz across the cruise industry.
Engineering Excellence: Stats That Stun
MSC World America is not just MSC’s largest ship — it is among the largest in the world. The ship measures an impressive 1,093 feet long and spans 22 decks. It accommodates up to 6,762 guests and features over 2,600 cabins, including 16 different categories of staterooms and suites.
With over 420,000 square feet of public space, guests have access to a dizzying array of amenities, including six pools, 14 hot tubs, a massive indoor entertainment dome, and a family-focused amusement area.
At the heart of the ship is the World Promenade, a vibrant open-air promenade overlooking the ocean, lined with bars, restaurants, shops, and immersive LED displays.
A Leap Toward Greener Cruising
One of the most significant achievements of MSC World America is its environmental technology. It is MSC Cruises’ first liquefied natural gas (LNG) powered ship based in the U.S., dramatically reducing carbon emissions and setting the stage for more sustainable operations.
The ship is also equipped with:
-
Shore-to-ship power connectivity
-
Advanced wastewater treatment systems
-
Smart HVAC systems for energy efficiency
-
Noise-reducing propeller systems to protect marine life
These features align with MSC Group’s broader goal of reaching net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
Dining That Spans the Globe
Food lovers will find paradise aboard MSC World America. With 13 dining venues, including six specialty restaurants, the ship offers a world tour of cuisine.
Notable highlights include:
-
Eataly at Sea – A first-of-its-kind partnership bringing authentic Italian flavors to the ocean.
-
Butcher’s Cut – An upscale American-style steakhouse.
-
Kaito Teppanyaki & Sushi Bar – A high-energy Asian dining experience.
-
Green & Go – A new health-focused fast casual concept.
Complementing the restaurants are 20 bars and lounges, including a sports bar, a Champagne lounge, a Latin-themed venue with live music, and a hidden speakeasy bar for adults only.
Entertainment for Every Generation
From adrenaline to relaxation, the entertainment offerings onboard MSC World America are nothing short of dazzling.

A New Era for MSC in America
The launch of MSC World America signifies MSC Cruises’ most aggressive push into the U.S. cruise market. With a modern ship purpose-built for American tastes and homeported in Miami — one of the world’s busiest cruise hubs — MSC is making a bold statement of intent.
Gianni Onorato, CEO of MSC Cruises, said during the ceremony:
“With MSC World America, we are not just launching a new ship — we are introducing a new way to cruise. It reflects our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and delivering an unmatched guest experience tailored to our North American audience.”
