Paris Saint-Germain Humiliate Real Madrid 4-0 to Reach Club World Cup Final

Paris Saint-Germain produced a masterclass in clinical finishing and relentless pressure, demolishing Real Madrid 4-0 on Wednesday night to secure their spot in the FIFA Club World Cup final against Chelsea.

PSG midfielder Fabián Ruiz starred with two first-half goals, while former Madrid winger Ousmane Dembélé and substitute Gonçalo Ramos added to the tally in a game that saw the European champions utterly outclass their Spanish rivals — and former talisman Kylian Mbappé.

It was a nightmare evening for Madrid boss Xabi Alonso, whose tactical gamble badly misfired. Missing the suspended Dean Huijsen and injured Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alonso shifted away from his trusted five-man defense to a four-man backline. The change left Madrid alarmingly vulnerable, and PSG wasted no time exploiting the gaps.

In just the sixth minute, Madrid defender Raúl Asencio miscontrolled the ball under pressure, gifting Dembélé possession. Though Thibaut Courtois stopped Dembélé’s initial attempt, Ruiz was perfectly positioned to slot home the rebound into an empty net.

Three minutes later, disaster struck again. Antonio Rüdiger’s misplaced pass allowed Dembélé to surge unchallenged into the box and beat Courtois with a composed low finish, doubling PSG’s lead inside the opening ten minutes.

PSG’s dominance continued, and in the 24th minute, Achraf Hakimi made an incisive run down the right flank before cutting the ball back. Ruiz danced past Asencio with a clever feint and fired in his second goal of the night, leaving Madrid reeling.

Despite the presence of Mbappé, who had returned to the Madrid lineup after illness, Real looked flat and bereft of ideas. The Spanish side failed to register a single meaningful effort on Gianluigi Donnarumma’s goal all game, while Courtois was left to single-handedly keep the scoreline from growing even more embarrassing.

PSG, fresh off a stunning 5-0 rout of Inter Milan in the Champions League final last month, could have added to their lead before halftime. Dembélé nearly opened the scoring earlier in the fourth minute with a curling shot brilliantly saved by Courtois, and Désiré Doué had a second-half effort ruled out for offside.

Madrid’s decision not to adjust after the break cost them dearly. PSG kept control with ease, and three minutes before full time, substitute Gonçalo Ramos capitalized on more slack defending to add a fourth goal, completing the rout.

The result sends PSG into Saturday’s final against Chelsea brimming with confidence and in search of their first FIFA Club World Cup title. For Madrid, it was an embarrassing collapse on the biggest stage, with Alonso’s defensive reshuffle and the team’s toothless attack combining to produce one of the most humbling defeats in recent club history.
