Milan Iloski Leads Philadelphia Union to Sixth Straight Win

The Philadelphia Union continued their late-season surge Saturday night, riding a hat trick from Milan Iloski to a 4-2 victory over Orlando City SC for their sixth consecutive win.

Philadelphia (11-10-6) has now gone unbeaten in 12 straight matches since returning from the World Cup break. The Union also continued their impressive run despite playing without star attacker Cavan Sullivan, who was with the U.S. men’s national team earlier Saturday.

Iloski Completes Second Hat Trick of Season

Iloski scored three times for Philadelphia, recording his second hat trick of the season and becoming just the third player in Union history to have multiple hat tricks in the same season.

He joined Julián Carranza and Dániel Gazdag, who both accomplished the feat in 2022. Iloski opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 11th minute before doubling Philadelphia’s advantage eight minutes later. On the counterattack, Iloski found himself one-on-one with Orlando goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau and calmly finished to make it 2-0.

After the Union added another goal through Indiana Vassilev, Iloski completed his hat trick in the 51st minute. He unleashed a rising shot from 25 yards that bent inside the left post and under the crossbar, giving Philadelphia a commanding 4-0 lead.

Vassilev Adds Goal and Two Assists

Vassilev also played a major role in the Union’s offensive performance, scoring once while providing two assists. Philadelphia’s attack consistently created problems for Orlando, allowing the Union to build a four-goal advantage before the visitors mounted a late comeback attempt.

Orlando City (10-13-4) finally got on the scoreboard in the 78th minute when Iván Angulo found the net. Angulo has now scored in four consecutive games and has five goals this season, matching his career high. Martín Ojeda added another goal for Orlando in the 90th minute, but the late surge came too late to change the result as Philadelphia held on for the 4-2 victory.

Orlando City Remains in Playoff Hunt

The loss leaves Orlando still battling for a playoff position as the regular season approaches its conclusion. Despite falling behind early, Orlando showed some fight in the final stages, with Angulo extending his scoring streak and Ojeda finding the net in the closing minutes.

The Union, meanwhile, have built considerable momentum with six consecutive victories and a 12-match unbeaten streak since returning from the World Cup break.

What’s Next for Philadelphia and Orlando

Both teams will return to action on Oct. 10. Orlando City will host the Columbus Crew as it continues its push for a playoff spot, while the Philadelphia Union will return home to face Real Salt Lake.
