Antoine Griezmann Scores Twice as Orlando City Rolls Past D.C. United

Griezmann Leads Orlando City to Convincing Victory Over D.C. United

Antoine Griezmann scored twice and added an assist as Orlando City earned a 4-1 victory over D.C. United on Saturday night, continuing the French star’s impressive start to his Major League Soccer career. Martín Ojeda contributed a goal and an assist, while Marco Pasalić scored in stoppage time as Orlando City improved to 12-13-5.

Griezmann now has 12 goals and seven assists in 14 MLS appearances, becoming the first player in league history to record a goal contribution in 12 of his first 14 career games. Maxime Crépeau made three saves for Orlando, while D.C. United fell to 7-10-12 despite Tai Baribo converting a first-half stoppage-time penalty.

Orlando Strikes Twice in the First Half

Orlando City opened the scoring in the 15th minute through a well-executed combination between Ojeda and Griezmann. Just inside the top of the penalty area, Ojeda chipped a first-touch pass over four defenders to a charging Griezmann, who finished from seven yards with a first-touch strike to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.

The partnership produced another goal seven minutes later. This time, Griezmann supplied the ball for Ojeda, who flicked a back-heel volley past goalkeeper Sean Johnson and inside the left post in the 22nd minute to double Orlando’s advantage.

D.C. United found a response in first-half stoppage time when Baribo converted from the penalty spot, cutting the deficit to 2-1 and giving the visitors a chance to fight their way back into the match.

Griezmann Extends Orlando’s Lead

Griezmann struck again in the 50th minute, capitalizing on a defensive mistake to restore Orlando City’s two-goal cushion. The French forward intercepted a misplayed pass from Kye Rowles in D.C. United’s defensive third, took two dribbles and rolled a shot into the net to make it 3-1.

The goal added another milestone to Griezmann’s remarkable opening stretch in MLS. With 12 goals and seven assists through 14 appearances, he has established himself as one of Orlando City’s most productive attacking players and set a league record for consistency in his first games.

Orlando continued to pressure D.C. United as the match progressed, and Pasalić added a fourth goal in stoppage time to complete the 4-1 victory. Johnson finished with three saves for D.C. United, while Crépeau also recorded three stops to help Orlando secure the win.

Up Coming MLS Match for Orlando City and D.C. United

D.C. United will look to rebound when it travels to Cincinnati on Wednesday. Orlando City returns home next Saturday to host New York City FC as it continues its MLS campaign. With Griezmann producing goals and assists at a historic rate, Orlando City will aim to carry its attacking momentum into the next match and build on Saturday’s convincing performance.
