Discovery Triggers Police Investigation
Authorities in Mississippi arrested a 33 year old woman from Texas after razor blades were discovered inside loaves of bread sold at Walmart stores in Biloxi. The case began when customers reported finding sharp metal objects embedded in bread they had purchased, prompting an immediate investigation by local police.
Multiple Stores Affected
Police say the contaminated bread was purchased at two separate Walmart locations, including a Supercenter and a Neighborhood Market. Initial reports came from customers on different dates in early December, and additional inspections by store employees uncovered more tampered loaves on store shelves. No serious injuries were reported, but officials said the risk to public safety was significant.
Surveillance Video Leads to Arrest
Investigators reviewed surveillance footage from the stores and identified a woman handling loaves of bread before placing them back on shelves. Police used the video evidence to track her movements and later located her in Biloxi, where she was taken into custody. She is currently being held at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center.
Criminal Charges Filed
The suspect has been charged with attempted mayhem, a felony offense that alleges intent to cause serious bodily harm. Court records show her bond was set at one hundred thousand dollars. Police have not disclosed a possible motive and said the investigation remains ongoing.
Public Safety Response
Law enforcement urged anyone who recently bought bread from the affected stores to inspect their products carefully and report anything suspicious. Walmart removed potentially affected items from shelves, conducted additional inspections, and said it is cooperating fully with investigators. Officials stated there is no indication that stores outside the Biloxi area were impacted.
