Fatal Shooting Near Village Flea Market in Miami Leaves One Dead

Man Killed in Parking Lot Shooting Near Miami-Dade Flea Market, Suspect in Custody

A man is dead and a suspect is in custody following a fatal shooting Saturday evening near the Village Flea Market in Northwest Miami-Dade, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO). Authorities say the incident occurred just before 5:55 p.m. in the busy commercial area near Northwest 79th Street and 27th Avenue, a corridor known for heavy foot traffic, vendors, and nearby fast food restaurants.

Victim Found Inside Vehicle

Northside district deputies from MDSO responded to reports of gunfire in the parking lot adjacent to the flea market. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male sitting inside a vehicle, suffering from multiple apparent gunshot wounds. According to police radio dispatches, emergency medical personnel quickly designated the victim as a “trauma alert,” transporting him by ground to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition. Despite life-saving efforts, the man succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival, MDSO confirmed. At the scene, CBS News Miami reported that the victim’s vehicle had a visible bullet hole in the windshield, indicating at least one round was fired at close range.

Suspect Apprehended Without Incident

Shortly after the shooting, law enforcement located and detained a suspect near a McDonald’s close to the crime scene. Radio traffic between responding officers confirmed that the suspect was apprehended without resistance behind a suite identified as Alpha 106 North 3100, in the vicinity of the shopping plaza.

“Yes, we have the subject here,” an officer confirmed over the scanner. “We have the subject.”

Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victim or the suspect. The motive remains unclear, and officials have not stated whether the incident was targeted or random.

Homicide Investigation Underway

The MDSO Homicide Unit is actively investigating the case. Crime scene investigators were seen examining the vehicle and nearby area late into the evening. Residents and shoppers in the area expressed concern over the increasing frequency of violent incidents near the flea market and surrounding businesses. Saturday’s shooting comes amid broader concerns about gun violence across Miami-Dade County this summer. MDSO is urging anyone with information to come forward and contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).

This is a developing story. More updates will be provided as details emerge.
