SANFORD, FL — A Sanford woman is recovering in the hospital after a devastating traffic collision claimed the life of her fiancé, 27-year-old Stone Sandoval, who gave his life to save her.
The tragic accident happened around 12:00 p.m. on Monday, July 1, at the intersection of Rinehart Road and St. John’s Parkway. According to those close to the couple, Stone and his fiancée were crossing the street together when a truck came barreling toward them. In a split second of instinct and love, Stone pushed her out of the way—placing himself in the direct path of the oncoming vehicle.
He was critically injured and rushed to HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital, where he later passed away. His fiancée suffered serious injuries to her lower body but is expected to recover after surgery. She is currently being treated at the same hospital. The couple had built a life together filled with plans and dreams. That future was stolen in a single moment—but what endures is the legacy of Stone’s courage, love, and selflessness.
