FWC Seeks Witnesses After Woman’s Body Washes Ashore on Hollywood Beach

FWC Seeks Witness Woman’s Body

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is asking for the public’s assistance as investigators continue examining the death of a woman whose body washed ashore on a Broward County beach earlier this month. Authorities believe the incident may have involved a vessel strike and are urging anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward.

Investigators identified the victim as 31 year old Kellie Melinda Williams. According to FWC, Williams entered the water near Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park on the morning of June 3 and was believed to have been snorkeling or diving offshore. She was reportedly carrying a floating dive flag and was wearing a light blue shirt and black shorts.

Officials say Williams entered the water around 10:30 a.m. through Beach Access One. Her body was later discovered after fishermen spotted her in the surf near Hollywood Beach and alerted authorities. Following an examination, investigators determined her injuries were consistent with a possible vessel strike.

FWC is specifically seeking anyone who was near the waters off Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on June 3. Investigators are also interested in speaking with boaters, divers, anglers, beachgoers, or anyone who may have observed vessel activity within approximately one mile of the shoreline during that time frame.

Family Continues Search for Answers

Williams’ death has left family members searching for answers as investigators work to determine exactly what occurred in the water that day. Her father has publicly appealed for anyone with information to come forward and assist authorities.

According to investigators, the family hopes witnesses may have seen something that could help establish the circumstances surrounding the tragedy and potentially prevent similar incidents in the future.

Investigation Remains Ongoing

At this time, no vessel has been publicly identified in connection with the incident, and investigators have not announced any suspects or persons of interest. The case remains under active investigation.

FWC is encouraging anyone who may have photographs, videos, boating records, or firsthand information from the area on June 3 to contact the agency’s Wildlife Alert Hotline. Tips may be submitted anonymously.
