Witness Jumped Into Water in Desperate Effort to Save Victim Before He Disappeared Beneath Surface
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Fort Lauderdale police are investigating an overnight death along the city’s popular Riverwalk after a man fell into the New River and drowned despite an immediate rescue attempt by a nearby bystander. The incident unfolded near the downtown waterfront, where witnesses said an older man appeared to lose his footing before entering the water. Witnesses See Man Enter Water
