Herro Shines in Return as Miami Heat Dominate Atlanta Hawks 128-97

The Miami Heat delivered one of their most complete performances of the season Friday night, cruising past the Atlanta Hawks 128-97 in a wire-to-wire victory that showcased both depth and defensive intensity.

Leading the charge was Tyler Herro, who made a strong return after missing 15 games with a rib injury. Wearing a protective flak jacket, Herro showed no signs of limitation, pouring in 24 points off the bench. He set the tone early with 16 first-half points, immediately giving Miami a scoring spark it had been missing during his absence.

Miami controlled the game from the opening tip and never trailed, building a steady lead behind balanced contributions across the roster. Bam Adebayo anchored the effort with 17 points, eight rebounds, and five assists, facilitating the offense while holding down the paint defensively.

Newly minted All-Star Norman Powell added 15 points in his first game since the break, seamlessly fitting into Miami’s rhythm. Rookie big man Kel’el Ware continued his strong play with 14 points and 12 rebounds, recording an impressive double-double and providing a strong interior presence.

Atlanta, meanwhile, struggled to keep pace despite a historic performance from Jalen Johnson. The versatile forward recorded his 11th triple-double of the season—finishing with 16 points, 16 rebounds, and 11 assists—the most in franchise history for a single season and currently leading the Eastern Conference.

Onyeka Okongwu led the Hawks in scoring with 22 points, while CJ McCollum added 20 off the bench, including four three-pointers. Still, Atlanta could not overcome Miami’s efficiency and defensive pressure, falling behind early and never mounting a serious comeback.

The win continues a strong stretch for Miami, which has now won six of its last seven road games, gaining momentum as the season progresses.

Looking ahead, the Heat return home to host Memphis on Saturday, while the Hawks will look to regroup when they host Brooklyn on Sunday.
