LAPD K9 Unit Seizes 14 Kilos of Cocaine in Major Bust
Los Angeles, CA — A significant drug bust occurred yesterday following a routine traffic stop by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). During the stop, a K9 unit led by the department’s K9 officer “JD” made a remarkable discovery, uncovering 5 kilos of cocaine from the suspect’s vehicle.
The traffic stop, initiated due to a moving violation, quickly escalated when K9 “JD” alerted to the vehicle. This prompted officers to search the car, leading to the recovery of the 5 kilos of cocaine hidden inside.
Following up on the successful discovery, LAPD investigators conducted further inquiries that led them to another location. There, an additional 9 kilos of cocaine were found, bringing the total haul to 14 kilos.
The drugs have a street value estimated in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Police have not disclosed the identity of the suspect, and it is unclear whether any arrests have been made.
LAPD officials praised the K9 unit and the officers involved for their diligence and professionalism. “Great work, as always,” a spokesperson said, highlighting the crucial role of K9 officers in combatting drug trafficking.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to trace the origin and intended distribution of the seized drugs.
