Man Stole $43,000 Gold Chain
A man accused of stealing a $43,000 gold chain from a Macy’s jewelry counter at Miami International Mall was thwarted in the parking lot by a vigilant witness, authorities said. Surveillance footage captured the suspect, identified as 43-year-old Eduardo Javier Lopez Hernandez, entering the Macy’s store on November 4 at approximately 1 p.m. According to police reports, Lopez Hernandez approached the jewelry counter, where he allegedly snatched the expensive chain before fleeing the store.

The footage shows Lopez Hernandez making his way to the counter, appearing to inspect the gold chain before grabbing it and running out of the store. Store employees alerted mall security and law enforcement as he made his escape.
Heroic Witness Steps In
Lopez Hernandez’s getaway was short-lived, thanks to a witness who noticed the commotion and intervened. The witness confronted the suspect in the parking lot and managed to detain him until police arrived. Officers took Lopez Hernandez into custody without further incident.
