Tractor-Trailer Triggers 18-Vehicle Crash on I-95 in Miami-Dade, Several Injured
Miami-Dade County, FL — August 29, 2025
An 18-vehicle collision on I-95 near Aventura brought traffic to a standstill late Thursday night after a tractor-trailer plowed into congested traffic, causing a chain-reaction crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 11:25 p.m. in the southbound lanes near Ives Dairy Road. Investigators say the tractor-trailer failed to stop in time, slamming into multiple vehicles and triggering a domino effect that ultimately involved 18 vehicles.
Several occupants sustained minor injuries and were transported to Aventura Hospital for treatment, authorities said. No fatalities were reported.
In addition to the pileup, the crash led to a fuel spill that forced emergency crews to shut down the highway. Southbound lanes of I-95 were closed for several hours, with traffic diverted onto Ives Dairy Road as cleanup and investigation efforts continued through the night.
All lanes were reopened by 6 a.m. Friday, though officials warned of residual delays during the morning commute.
The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the incident. At this time, no charges have been announced.
