Miami-Dade Deputy Arrested in Broward on Kidnapping and Assault Charges Involving Child’s Mother
POMPANO BEACH, FL — A Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputy is facing multiple serious charges after allegedly assaulting and kidnapping the mother of his child during a violent domestic dispute in Broward County. The deputy, Terrance Dion Chester, 28, was arrested Thursday in Pompano Beach and is now being held at the Broward County Main Jail.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO), deputies responded to a 911 call about an in-progress domestic battery involving a man with a firearm. When law enforcement arrived at the scene near an apartment complex, witnesses quickly identified Chester as the suspect.
Deputies say Chester was found armed with a loaded Glock 19 pistol—holstered at his waistband and containing 15 hollow-point rounds with one round chambered. As officers issued commands to surrender, Chester allegedly reached toward the weapon before ultimately complying and being taken into custody without further incident.
Surveillance Footage Shows Brutal Assault
An arrest report filed by BSO paints a disturbing picture of escalating violence. The victim, who has been in a five-year relationship with Chester and shares a two-year-old child with him, told authorities the altercation began over financial disputes. When she attempted to leave the apartment to de-escalate the situation, Chester reportedly followed her, snatched her phone, struck her in the head, and dragged her back toward the apartment by her hair.
Security camera footage from a nearby residence appears to corroborate the account. The video allegedly shows Chester punching the woman multiple times, pinning her against a fence, and continuing the assault as he forced her back inside. In another clip, Chester can be seen drawing his handgun and holding it by his side while attempting to lift the woman from the ground.
Though the victim did not have visible injuries at the time of the police report, officers noted signs of a struggle, including disheveled hair and grass stains on her clothing. Chester declined to provide a statement to investigators.
