Miami Man Arrested For Burglary Spree in Brickell

Man Arrested for Alleged Involvement in String of Burglaries in Brickell

MIAMI – City of Miami Police have arrested a man in connection with a series of burglaries in the Brickell neighborhood this week. Eric Gerod Robinson, 24, has been charged with multiple counts of occupied burglary and third-degree grand theft after allegedly breaking into several apartments in a high-rise building.

According to police reports, between Monday and Wednesday, residents at the apartment building located at 79 SW 12th St. reported multiple burglaries and thefts. Investigators reviewed surveillance footage, which allegedly showed Robinson walking through the building’s hallways and attempting to open apartment doors to see if they were unlocked.

Once inside, Robinson allegedly stole various items, including cash, purses, credit and debit cards, watches, jewelry, and electronics. The police say Robinson specifically targeted unlocked apartments during his spree.

Detectives investigating the burglaries discovered that Robinson had been involved in a similar incident at the same building months earlier. On May 11, a resident reported meeting Robinson in the building’s elevator. After a conversation, the resident gave Robinson a ride in his rental vehicle. During the encounter, Robinson asked to see the resident’s gold chain, which was valued at approximately $1,500. When the resident handed it to him, Robinson allegedly fled with the chain, according to the arrest report.

Robinson is accused of returning to the building on Monday night and breaking into two apartments, where he allegedly stole a purse, a bookbag worth $500, and several credit and debit cards. The next night, Robinson reportedly broke into five additional apartments, stealing items including Apple Watches, purses, a PlayStation 5, and more credit cards. The total value of the stolen items on Tuesday was estimated at $2,720, with an additional $400 in cash taken from the apartments, according to police documents.

The string of burglaries continued on Wednesday night, with Robinson allegedly breaking into three more apartments. Items stolen that night included a watch, more credit and debit cards, a purse, and $300 in cash.

Robinson was located and arrested following an investigation by detectives and patrol officers. He is currently being held at Miami-Dade County Corrections. Authorities have not yet disclosed further details about his court appearances or potential sentencing.

The City of Miami Police urge residents to remain vigilant and ensure that their doors are locked to prevent further incidents of this nature.
