Miami Springs Man Accused of Kicking Girlfriend in Face and Forcing Her Into Car During Daylight Kidnapping
Surveillance Video Captures Violent Attack as Victim Attempts to Escape
A Miami Springs man is facing kidnapping and domestic violence charges after surveillance cameras captured what investigators describe as a brutal daylight assault on his girlfriend before he allegedly forced her back into a vehicle and drove away. The incident occurred around 11 a.m. Thursday in Miami Springs and was caught on high definition security cameras that recorded nearly the entire encounter.
According to investigators, 31-year-old Andre Lopez prevented his girlfriend from leaving a vehicle during an argument. When the woman managed to break free and attempted to run away, Lopez allegedly exited the vehicle, chased her down, and violently attacked her. Video footage reviewed by investigators reportedly shows Lopez kicking the victim directly in the face, causing her to collapse to the ground. Authorities say he then picked her up, forced her into the back seat of the vehicle, and fled the scene. The entire attack unfolded in less than a minute.
Deputies Track Down Suspect
Following the incident, Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies launched an investigation and quickly located Lopez. According to an arrest affidavit, Lopez admitted to detectives that he physically assaulted his girlfriend. Investigators also reported that Lopez told them the abuse was not an isolated event and that violence in the relationship occurred regularly. Authorities subsequently arrested Lopez and transported him to jail. Court records show Lopez is currently being held without bond.
Victim Refused to Cooperate
Investigators say the victim later became uncooperative during the investigation and informed law enforcement that she did not want anyone to get into trouble. Domestic violence advocates note that victims often decline to participate in prosecutions due to fear, emotional attachment, financial dependence, or concerns about retaliation. Despite the victim’s reluctance to cooperate, prosecutors moved forward with charges due to the strength of the evidence gathered during the investigation. The surveillance footage, witness accounts, and Lopez’s alleged confession provided authorities with sufficient evidence to pursue the case independently.
Already Out on Bond
The case has drawn additional attention because Lopez was reportedly already out on bond for an unrelated felony case at the time of the alleged kidnapping. As a result, prosecutors requested that he remain in custody pending further court proceedings. The charges he now faces include kidnapping and domestic violence-related offenses. If convicted, Lopez could face significant prison time under Florida law.
Video Evidence Becoming Increasingly Important
Law enforcement officials say surveillance footage has become one of the most powerful tools in domestic violence investigations, particularly in cases where victims later become unwilling to testify. Prosecutors are increasingly relying on video evidence, digital records, witness statements, and admissions made by suspects to build cases even when victims decline to cooperate.
In this case, authorities say the graphic nature of the footage and the seriousness of the allegations left little doubt about moving forward with criminal charges. Lopez remains jailed as the case proceeds through the Miami-Dade court system.
