So you have been to some music festivals but you’re not sure about Burning Man?
I totally get it! Burning Man is next level. They even call it a city, not a festival. A city with its own rules and economy that you know absolutely nothing about. Sounds daunting, doesn’t it? Well, that’s cause it is! And we have not even gotten into the real hard parts like finding water for days, taking showers, living in sand storms, desert transportation, power for devices, or housing. This is why Burning Man is and will always be the ultimate festival.
Here are some tips for surviving Burning Man…
1. Pack a gallon of water per person per day to be safe.
2. Anticipate getting sick or getting an infection and have supplies and even antibiotics.
3. Dust storms are real and happen, be ready for them.
4. Take care of your feet, keep the clean, and change your socks.
5. Most important wear comfortable clothes and shoes!
Everything about Burning Man is hard work and money.
They may act like the event is an inclusive and mostly barter-based event and local micro-economy. But, to get there takes nothing short of real cash money. The tickets to Burning Man are expensive, the transportation is expensive, and everything you need to survive out there is expensive. Once you get there all the rumors are true there is no cash used, and many people are eager to barter and trade for the things they need that day. Also, everyone leaves the desert as clean as they found it. All cleaning up their own space during the week and leaving the desert as pristine as it was found after the festival.
This all is a lot to take in and plan for and that is exactly what gives Burning Man its mystique. But, if you are willing to put in the time and effort as well as spend the money.
