The Miami Dolphins decided to move on from Tua Tagovailoa this offseason. Don’t cry for Tua, though. He landed a gig with the Atlanta Falcons. He’ll be fine and compete for the job versus Michael Penix. The Dolphins decided that Tua wasn’t good enough, but the former Green Bay Packers QB Malik Willis was worthy of being the new starter. So, Malik Willis, it is.

And like any new quarterback (or star players) you get the “red carpet” treatment in your new town/city. One of the most common things that a new arrival takes part in is throwing out a ceremonial first pitch at a home team baseball game. And that is exactly what Malik Willis was invited to do.
I will let you be the judge of his throw to home plate. I will let you be the judge of what kind of omen this is. I will let you be the judge of what any of this means about how he will play this upcoming season.
All I will say is WOW! That was some pitch. I also want to make it very clear. This is not the first, nor will it be the last, of one of these. Rapper 50 Cent had a pretty disastrous first pitch at a Mets game that went super off-target. Carly Rae Jepsen, at a Blue Jays game, threw a pretty awkward ball, too. And even some presidents, like George W. Bush, flubbed. He famously bounced his first pitch at a Yankees game. There is one glaring difference, though. None of those people throw a ball for a living. Malik Willis does.
So enjoy his pitch. I sure did. As Bob Uecker used to say… “Just a bit outside (high)”!
