Ted Lieu Presses White House After Citing Report Alleging Trump Received Experimental New Medical Treatment

Rep. Ted Lieu Demands White House Explain Trump’s Health After Raising Questions About Experimental Drug Report

California Democrat cites visible physical changes, canceled White House event, and unverified report as he calls for greater transparency from the administration

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Rep. Ted Lieu escalated questions surrounding President Donald Trump’s health during a Capitol Hill press conference this week, publicly calling on the White House to disclose whether the president is receiving treatment for a serious undisclosed medical condition. The California Democrat said recent events, including Trump’s abrupt cancellation of a bipartisan housing bill signing ceremony and what Lieu described as increasingly erratic public behavior, warranted greater transparency from the administration.

During his remarks, Lieu pointed to what he characterized as visible physical changes he said he has observed during recent public appearances, including moments where the president appeared fatigued, swelling in his hands, and what he described as weakness in one arm. Lieu argued that, taken together, the developments justified public questions about the president’s health.

Questions Center on Experimental Drug Report

A major focus of Lieu’s remarks involved reports concerning an unnamed 79-year-old patient who allegedly received access to an experimental Eli Lilly medication through the Food and Drug Administration’s compassionate use program. The compassionate use process allows patients with serious or life threatening illnesses to receive investigational treatments outside traditional clinical trials under limited circumstances.

Lieu emphasized that he was seeking answers about whether President Trump was the individual referenced in the reports and called on the administration to publicly clarify the situation.

“If the report is false, then the White House should simply say so,” Lieu said, arguing that transparency is essential when questions arise regarding the health of the nation’s commander in chief.

White House Rejects Allegations

The White House forcefully rejected the suggestion that Trump was receiving the experimental treatment or suffering from a terminal illness. Administration officials described the allegation as false and criticized Lieu for raising what they characterized as unfounded speculation regarding the president’s health. No evidence has been publicly released showing that Trump has received the experimental medication referenced during Lieu’s press conference, and the White House has denied the claim.

Health Transparency Remains a Political Flashpoint

Questions surrounding the health of presidents have frequently become political issues in Washington, particularly when critics argue that administrations have not fully disclosed medical information. Lieu argued that the American public deserves complete transparency regarding the health of any sitting president, particularly during periods involving significant domestic and international policy decisions. His comments come as scrutiny of the administration has intensified following recent foreign policy decisions, legislative disputes on Capitol Hill, and Trump’s cancellation of several previously scheduled public events.

Whether Lieu’s demands lead to additional disclosures remains unclear. For now, the White House maintains that the reports are inaccurate, while the California congressman continues to call for greater public transparency regarding the president’s medical condition.
