TikTok Star Murder-for-Hire Plot
TikTok influencer Gabriela Gonzalez has been arrested and charged in an alleged murder-for-hire scheme targeting singer Jack Avery, the father of her child, according to prosecutors in Los Angeles County.
Gonzalez, 24, who amassed hundreds of thousands of followers on TikTok through lifestyle and parenting content, faces multiple felony charges including attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and solicitation of murder. Prosecutors allege the case stems from a prolonged custody dispute involving the couple’s young daughter.
Authorities Say Plot Was Planned Over Several Years
Investigators allege the conspiracy began in 2020 and continued into 2021. According to court filings, authorities believe Gonzalez worked alongside her father, Francisco Gonzalez, and former boyfriend Kai Cordrey in an effort to arrange Avery’s killing.
Prosecutors claim the defendants attempted to locate a hitman online and discussed using cryptocurrency payments to conceal financial transactions connected to the alleged plot. Authorities also allege thousands of dollars were transferred during the scheme.
Law enforcement officials say the alleged murder plan never advanced to an actual attack because federal investigators intervened. Court records indicate an undercover FBI agent posed as a hitman during parts of the investigation, allowing authorities to monitor communications and gather evidence before anyone was harmed.
Jack Avery Reportedly Warned by Federal Investigators
Avery, a member of the former pop group Why Don’t We, was reportedly informed years ago by federal authorities that investigators had uncovered threats against his life.
Recent legal filings tied to the criminal case indicate Avery later sought additional protections through family court proceedings connected to custody arrangements involving the couple’s daughter. Prosecutors have described the situation as an emotionally charged and escalating conflict that eventually turned criminal.
Arrests Span Multiple States
Gabriela Gonzalez was arrested in Northern California before being transferred to Los Angeles County custody. Authorities reportedly set her bail at $2 million. Her father was detained separately in Florida pending extradition proceedings, while Cordrey was also arrested in connection with the alleged conspiracy.
As of Friday, no public pleas had been entered in the case. Defense attorneys representing the accused have not issued extensive public statements regarding the allegations.
The case has generated major attention online due to Gonzalez’s social media following and Avery’s connection to the music industry, but prosecutors say the charges are rooted in years of digital evidence, financial records, witness interviews, and undercover investigative work now headed to court.
