AT&T Stadium Branding Shift
AT&T Stadium is quickly returning to normal after spending nearly a month as one of the busiest venues of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Workers were seen Wednesday removing the large tarps that covered the stadium’s iconic AT&T logos, ending the temporary transformation that allowed the venue to comply with FIFA’s commercial branding rules.
Throughout the tournament, the Arlington stadium operated under the name “Dallas Stadium” because FIFA does not allow venues to display corporate naming rights unless the sponsor is an official tournament partner. The AT&T logos on the exterior of the stadium were covered with massive white tarps, while branded signs inside the venue were replaced with FIFA-approved graphics.
The cleanup began almost immediately after Tuesday’s semifinal match, in which Spain defeated France 2-0 to earn a place in the World Cup final. Within hours of the final whistle, crews started dismantling temporary signage and restoring the stadium’s familiar appearance as preparations began for the return of the Dallas Cowboys and other upcoming events.
The work extends beyond simply uncovering the stadium’s name. Crews are also removing the natural grass field that was installed specifically for the World Cup. The grass will be replaced with the stadium’s traditional artificial turf before the NFL season begins. FIFA-required branding throughout the concourses, suites, and seating areas is also being taken down.
AT&T Stadium played a major role in the expanded 2026 FIFA World Cup, hosting a tournament-leading nine matches. The venue welcomed hundreds of thousands of fans from around the world and staged some of the competition’s biggest games, including group-stage matches, knockout-round contests, and one of the two semifinals.
Hosting the tournament further cemented North Texas as one of the country’s premier sports destinations. Local businesses, hotels, restaurants, and tourism officials benefited from the influx of international visitors, while Arlington received worldwide exposure as one of the tournament’s showcase cities.
With the World Cup now winding down, the rapid transformation back to AT&T Stadium highlights the enormous logistical effort required to host one of the world’s largest sporting events. In just a matter of days, the venue will once again be recognizable as the home of the Dallas Cowboys, marking the end of a historic chapter in North Texas sports history.
