Offset Wants the Bag: Cardi B May Be on the Hook for Spousal Support

Offset Requests Spousal Support From Cardi B in Bitter Divorce Battle

In a dramatic turn in one of hip-hop’s most high-profile breakups, rapper Offset is now seeking spousal support from Cardi B as their divorce proceedings continue to escalate. The latest developments mark a contentious chapter in the volatile six-year marriage between the two rap powerhouses, who secretly tied the knot in 2017 and share three young children.

According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Offset (real name Kiari Kendrell Cephus) filed an amended divorce response in which he not only reaffirmed his request for joint legal custody of their children — Kulture Kiari, Wave Set, and a baby girl born in September 2024 — but also asked the court to grant him spousal support. The amount has not been specified, but the request adds a provocative new layer to the public unraveling of the couple’s relationship.

A Rocky History of Love and Litigation

Cardi B (born Belcalis Almánzar), who initially filed for divorce in September 2020, has had an on-again, off-again relationship with Offset marred by public drama, cheating rumors, and social media spats. At the time of her first filing, Cardi insisted that infidelity was not the cause. “I just got tired of arguing,” she said in an Instagram Live session. “You just get tired of the arguments and the buildup.”

After a brief reconciliation and more than three additional years of marriage, Cardi filed for divorce again in August 2024. This time, however, the Bronx-born rapper confirmed suspicions that Offset had cheated — a claim that came alongside accusations of emotional harassment and threats.

In an April 2025 filing, Cardi alleged that Offset had stalked her, sent her threatening messages, and even distributed revenge porn aimed at someone she had been seeing. “Every time he knows that I go out of town he harasses me,” Cardi wrote in court documents. “He leaves me voice notes trying to pull my self-esteem to the ground… I’m tired of it.”

Offset Fires Back

Offset’s legal filings have since taken a more aggressive tone. While he has denied Cardi’s claims of abuse and harassment, he has gone on the offensive, accusing her of cheating while pregnant — a charge she strongly refutes. Now, his request for spousal support adds financial tension to an already emotionally charged legal battle.

Family law experts note that spousal support requests from men are not unheard of — and in California, where both stars reside — courts may grant such support based on income disparities, regardless of gender. Cardi B’s estimated net worth of over $80 million significantly surpasses Offset’s, bolstering his legal argument even if the optics are controversial in the court of public opinion.

What’s Next?

Both stars appear to be moving on — at least publicly. Cardi has recently been seen out with Buffalo Bills cornerback Stefon Diggs, while Offset is rumored to be dating Instagram model Melanie Jayda. Still, the legal dust has yet to settle, and the case could take months — if not years — to resolve given the complexities of custody, support, and celebrity assets.

At stake are not just financial entitlements and child-rearing responsibilities, but also reputations — and possibly, careers. For now, what was once hip-hop’s royal couple has become a cautionary tale about love, power, and the high cost of public breakups.
