Raphinha Leads Barcelona Comeback Against Sevilla

Barcelona maintained their perfect start to the LALIGA season with a 3-1 comeback victory over Sevilla, powered by another sensational hat trick from Raphinha. Just three days after scoring three goals in Barcelona’s 7-2 rout of Racing Santander, the 29-year-old Brazilian produced another outstanding performance to move his season tally to 14 goals in all competitions. His latest hat trick also extended Barcelona’s winning streak to eight consecutive matches.

Sevilla made a strong start and took the lead in the 19th minute through Youssouf Fofana. Felix Correia drove down the left before delivering an excellent cross toward the near post, where Fofana rose to head the ball past the Barcelona defense and give the hosts a 1-0 advantage.

Barcelona had already threatened through Lamine Yamal, whose powerful effort was pushed onto the post by goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos. Rodri also made an important early interception to prevent another dangerous Sevilla attack. The visitors appealed for a penalty when Pau Cubarsí went down after a challenge from Andrés Castrín, but the referee waved away the claims.

Raphinha Quickly Turns the Match Around

Sevilla’s lead lasted only three minutes before Raphinha produced the first of his three goals. Andreas Christensen threaded a pass through to the Brazilian, who left Arouna Sangante on the ground before calmly sending a low finish into the corner of the net to make it 1-1.

The equalizer sparked a lively contest, with Sevilla’s aggressive press continuing to cause Barcelona problems. Barcelona appealed for another penalty in the 35th minute after Yamal collided with Lucien Agoumé, but once again the officials rejected the claims.

Pedri had a chance to put Barcelona ahead before halftime but fired wide when well placed, leaving the teams level at the break.

Raphinha Completes His Hat Trick

Barcelona emerged from halftime with greater control and soon found the breakthrough. Seven minutes into the second half, Yamal collected a rebound and chipped the ball into the box, where Raphinha rose to head home his second goal of the night and put Barcelona ahead 2-1.

The champions then lost Christensen to injury moments later, but they continued to control the match. Raphinha came within inches of completing his hat trick in the 64th minute when his close-range effort struck the post.

Five minutes later, however, the Brazilian got his third. Rodri found Yamal’s run, and the young winger slipped the ball through to Raphinha, who clipped his finish past the goalkeeper to complete another remarkable hat trick and put Barcelona 3-1 ahead.

Raphinha’s three-goal performance came just days after his hat trick against Racing Santander, highlighting his remarkable scoring form at the start of the campaign.

Barcelona Hold On to Eight-Game Winning Start

Sevilla continued to compete until the final whistle, but Barcelona’s defense held firm after Raphinha completed the comeback. The hosts were no doubt relieved to see Raphinha substituted in the 77th minute for Karim Adeyemi, although Barcelona nearly added a fourth late on. Adeyemi broke through on goal in stoppage time but fired directly at the goalkeeper.

Barcelona ultimately secured a 3-1 victory to preserve their perfect start and make it eight straight wins to open the season. For Sevilla, the defeat came despite a strong opening performance and a period in which their pressing game caused the defending champions significant problems.

For Barcelona, however, the headline once again belonged to Raphinha, whose second consecutive hat trick continued a remarkable scoring run and helped the champions turn another difficult match into three points.
