South Florida Media September Horrorscopes: Your Future Is Terrible, But at Least It’s Funny

Welcome to the South Florida Media Monthly Horrorscopes, the only astrology column in America willing to tell you something your therapist, bartender and group chat have been trying to explain for years: the problem might actually be you.

September has arrived in South Florida, which means summer is technically ending everywhere except here, where it remains 93 degrees with the humidity of Satan’s taint. People up north are posting pictures of sweaters, fireplaces and pumpkin spice while we’re still getting third-degree burns from leather car seats and checking the Atlantic Ocean every morning like it owes us money.

September is also when everyone decides they’re going to “get their life together.” Sure you are. You bought a new planner, downloaded a meditation app and posted a quote about boundaries. Meanwhile, your credit card is maxed out, your situationship hasn’t texted since Labor Day, and there’s a hurricane-shaped blob 2,000 miles away that you’ve already stared at longer than your retirement account. Welcome to September.

♈ Aries

September begins with you announcing that you’re entering a “new chapter,” which is adorable because you haven’t finished any of the previous 11. You’re not starting over, Aries. You’re just changing the font.

Somebody is going to challenge your opinion this month, and because you’re an Aries, you’ll respond with the calm emotional maturity of a raccoon trapped inside a garbage disposal. What begins as a harmless disagreement about where to eat will somehow end with you questioning someone’s loyalty, intelligence, childhood and ability to operate a motor vehicle. By the end of the argument, nobody will remember what you were fighting about, but you’ll know that you won. Congratulations. Your prize is eating dinner alone.

Romantically, stop confusing “chemistry” with “we argue constantly and the sex is good.” That’s not a soulmate. That’s an HR complaint with abs.

♉ Taurus

You’re telling everyone you’re trying to save money this September, and for approximately 36 hours, you’ll actually mean it. Then somebody says “brunch,” and suddenly you’re sitting in Fort Lauderdale eating $24 French toast while drinking a $19 mimosa containing six ounces of orange juice and enough champagne to make you text somebody you blocked in June.

Taurus, your relationship with money is fascinating because you’ll spend three hours researching whether you can save $11 by switching internet providers and then casually spend $286 at dinner because someone ordered a bottle for the table. You call this “enjoying life.” Your accountant calls it “why I drink.”

By September 28, you’ll check your bank account, whisper “Jesus Christ,” and immediately close the app like you accidentally walked in on your parents having sex.

♊ Gemini

Gemini, someone from your past is coming back this month. Obviously. Apparently, the universe has run out of new people willing to date you.

You’ll receive a perfectly engineered “Hey stranger” at 11:43 p.m., and despite possessing firsthand historical evidence demonstrating exactly why this relationship failed, you’ll immediately wonder whether they’ve changed. They haven’t. They changed their profile picture.

Within 72 hours, you’ll be back inside the same emotional escape room searching for clues while your friends watch in exhausted silence. Your best friend won’t even argue with you this time. They’ll just say, “Okay,” which is far more devastating because that’s the sound people make when they’ve stopped trying to save you.

Gemini, sometimes closure isn’t another conversation. Sometimes closure is blocking the number and having enough dignity not to conduct a forensic investigation from a burner Instagram account.

♋ Cancer

Cancer, September brings emotional growth. Just kidding. Someone is going to take 45 minutes to respond to your text, and you’re going to experience all five stages of grief before they finish grocery shopping.

At minute eight, they’re busy. At minute 17, something feels different. At minute 26, they’re emotionally unavailable. By minute 34, they’re obviously sleeping with somebody else. At minute 42, you’ve constructed an airtight prosecution involving screenshots, Instagram likes and a suspicious woman named Madison who followed them three months ago. Then your phone buzzes: “Sorry, I was driving.”

Fantastic. You just produced an eight-part Netflix documentary because somebody obeyed Florida traffic laws. September’s lesson is simple: not every silence is rejection. Sometimes people have lives. We know. Disgusting.

♌ Leo

September is going to be difficult for you, Leo, because occasionally another person will enter a room and receive attention. Please respect your privacy during this challenging time.

You’ll post a photograph this month that appears spontaneous but actually required 83 attempts, two lighting changes, three outfit adjustments and a friend standing on furniture screaming, “Tilt your chin down!” Then you’ll caption it something casual like “Sunday.” Sunday? Steven Spielberg has directed movies with less production planning.

You’ll spend the next four hours pretending not to check who liked it while absolutely checking who liked it. Then your ex will view the Story, and that’s it. That’s September. Everything else is irrelevant.

♍ Virgo

Virgo, September means organization, productivity and making everyone around you feel like incompetent garbage without technically saying anything insulting. You don’t yell. You sigh. That sigh has destroyed marriages.

Someone will load your dishwasher incorrectly this month, and you’ll stare at the plates like you’ve just discovered evidence of a war crime. “You put the bowls there?” Technically, it’s a question. Everyone in the kitchen knows it’s an indictment.

You’ll also create a new system for managing your life involving color-coded calendars, folders, reminders and approximately 14 categories that nobody but you understands. Then you’ll become furious because nobody follows the system you created without consulting them. Virgo, you’re not “detail-oriented.” You’re one label maker away from becoming a cult leader.

♎ Libra

September presents you with a major decision, so we’ll check back in December.

Asking a Libra to choose something is like watching Congress attempt immigration reform: everyone starts optimistic, three hours pass, nothing happens, and somehow everybody leaves angrier. Someone asks where you want dinner. You say anywhere. They suggest Italian. “Hmm.” Sushi? “I could.” Steak? “Maybe.” Mexican? “I had Mexican recently.” Forty-seven minutes later, the person you’re with is Googling whether abandoning someone at a traffic light qualifies as a felony.

Your dating life isn’t much better because you’re currently deciding between someone attractive but emotionally unavailable and someone emotionally available who you don’t find attractive. Naturally, you’ll choose both and call it “seeing where things go.” They’re going to therapy.

♏ Scorpio

Scorpio, you’re entering September with powerful sexual energy and absolutely no intention of using it responsibly. You’ll meet someone attractive enough that your brain immediately shuts down every department except reproductive services.

The red flags will begin almost instantly. They hate all their exes, they’re “between jobs,” their phone is permanently face-down, they’ve been engaged twice, and they tell you, “I don’t usually connect with people this quickly.” Normal people hear that and start looking for the exit. Scorpio hears it and thinks, “Finally. Someone interesting.”

Three weeks later, you’ll tell your friends, “I knew something was off from the beginning.” Yes. We were there. We held an intervention. You left with them.

♐ Sagittarius

Sagittarius, sometime around September 12 you’ll decide that your problem isn’t your career, relationship, finances or complete inability to commit to anything. You just need a vacation.

You’ll find a $119 flight and announce that travel is actually really affordable if you’re smart about it. Then you’ll pay $70 for baggage, $48 for a seat, $35 for airport parking, $22 for a sandwich and $19 for a vodka soda because apparently airports operate under the economic system of Monaco. Your $119 vacation now costs $1,700.

Within four hours of arriving, you’ll announce that you could “totally live here.” No, you couldn’t. You said that about Colombia, Nashville, Costa Rica, Austin and the Bahamas. You don’t want to move. You enjoy hotels.

♑ Capricorn

Capricorn, September brings professional success because apparently your self-worth still depends entirely on answering emails faster than everyone else.

Someone will send you a message at 10:42 p.m., and you’ll respond at 10:43 because you want them to know you’re dependable. They don’t think you’re dependable. They think you’re awake.

Your idea of work-life balance is moving your laptop from the desk to the couch. Eventually, somebody who loves you will tell you that you’re working too much. You’ll promise to take Sunday off and then spend Sunday “just getting organized for Monday,” which somehow requires six hours, four spreadsheets and yelling at someone in another time zone.

Capricorn, nobody has ever reached the gates of heaven and said, “God, I wish I’d answered more Slack messages.” Close the laptop.

♒ Aquarius

Aquarius, you’ve discovered something. God help us all.

September’s obsession will probably begin innocently with a YouTube video. Three hours later, you’ll have 27 browser tabs open, government documents downloaded and a sentence beginning with, “Okay, I’m not saying this is definitely happening, but explain THIS.”

Nobody can explain it because nobody knows what the hell you’re talking about. You’ll corner a friend at dinner and begin presenting your findings. Fifteen minutes into the briefing, they’ll stop making eye contact and start signaling the bartender. You’ll interpret this as skepticism. They’re actually trying to escape.

By the end of September, you’ll either uncover a genuine conspiracy or discover that the mysterious lights you spent two weeks investigating were airplanes approaching Miami International Airport. Either way, you’re making a PowerPoint.

♓ Pisces

Pisces, September brings clarity from the universe, which is unfortunate because you interpret literally everything as communication from the universe.

You see 11:11. Sign. You hear your favorite song. Sign. A bird lands near you. Sign. Your ex watches your Instagram Story. Oh my God, sign. No. That’s not fate. That’s somebody lying in bed scrolling through Stories because they’re too lazy to go to sleep.

You don’t need another tarot reading about your situationship. You need to acknowledge that somebody who says they’re “not ready for a relationship” but calls you every Saturday at 1:17 a.m. has actually communicated their intentions with remarkable clarity.

By month’s end, you’ll ignore all of this advice, meet someone near the Intracoastal, drink four margaritas and announce that you’ve “never felt a connection like this before.” You said that in July. We have screenshots.

Until October…

September will test your finances, relationships, patience, air conditioning, liver and remaining faith in South Florida drivers. You’ll watch people attempt three-lane exits from I-95 without signaling, spend $94 at Publix and somehow leave without the ingredients for a single actual meal, and receive at least one hurricane update from a relative who lives 1,200 miles away but suddenly considers themselves a meteorologist.

Remember, Mercury isn’t ruining your relationship. Saturn didn’t max out your American Express card. Venus didn’t make you send that text at 2:14 a.m. And the moon certainly didn’t force you to hook up with someone whose Instagram bio says “Entrepreneur | Investor | Mindset.” You did those things. The planets are just watching.

Enjoy September, South Florida. Stay hydrated, don’t fight with your HOA, never trust someone who says they “know a promoter,” and for the love of God, if the hurricane forecast cone is still 1,500 miles away, stop posting screenshots of it like you’re evacuating tomorrow.

When everything inevitably goes wrong, don’t blame us. Blame your zodiac sign. That’s what it’s there for.
